I’m going to let her keep it and see how long she keeps it on in game.

I wouldn’t be surprised to find it standing in the side of the road outside of Concord at some point. Still, I gave her a grenade launcher to help out on the roads.

Hopefully, she won’t just kill rabbits and squirrels with it!

there is a log of synth operatives that work on the surface in the institute, I think it is in the Synth Reclamation Service (lol brain is barely awake, just woke up. . whatever the retrieval service is called) basically all traveling merchants are synth . . . MORE COFFEE !!!

I thought it listed them as paid informants, but still human.
 
Only way to be sure is to knock one of them out, roll them face down and very closely observe if they have a synth tattoo on the back of their neck

Only way to be sure without killing them, at least.

As far as I know, there are no confirmed ghoul synths.

No reason there couldn't be, but my guess is the Institute Scientists would consider it beneath them to make one.

So true, you would think there would be some pre-war ghoul scientist actually working there as department heads considering their knowledge and skills

One of many ways in which The Institute is both short-sighted and tunnel-visioned.

(BTW: If things in Fallout made sense, pre-war ghouls would be running everything. Nigh-immortal beings with all the knowings of the makings and the doings? So what if they smell like death?)

Aww come on, were talking about the sharpest minds with pre-war tech knowledge and skills. They could be sealed in a encounter suit. have some type of skin wrap to make them appear a different color or perhaps a treatment to make them smell as sweet as a baby's bottom perhaps lol, or they could have their minds transferred to a generation 3 or perhaps an enhanced gen3plus think of Valentine. So it is possible

not only the Institute but the Brotherhood and the Minutemen as well. If you are in charge you should be able to determine the direction of the faction be it good or bad. You should have underlings do the foot work and you being the head be the overseer and planner for the future.
 
Now that I think about it, if you were raised in the sterile environment of The Institute, everyone in The Commonwealth would smell like death to you.

Combine the Robobrain technology from The Mechanist's Lair with Synth technology.

Yep. Blowing up The Institute is nuts. The Project Valkyrie mod offers better solutions--shame it's so infused with sleasy juvenile sex fantasies.
 
you would think the synths would be put out in force to improve life for the people of the commonwealth. Just think if the institute had implemented the law of robotics but the twisted powers that be created major flaws look at the Mechanist failure.

Another possibility are the training simulators/VR simulators, they could have been used to reclaim all the lost skills and knowledge. But that's another story
