How to play Sim Settlements 2 in VR

I've followed these instructions and the magazine just won't spawn. (New game, and a game just after setting up sanctuary). Even deleted all of the fallout4custom and fallout4prefs files.

Any idea what the issue could be? The saves are marked with an "M". Disabled all other mods. (They were basic movement, texture and weather mods).

Thanks!
What Magazine are you referring too?

Nevermind, messed around with the vortex settings some more and realized the script wasn't running, even though it was installed.

First off, THANK YOU TheRedLegend AND everyone sharing their experiences here.

Using the guide AND some comments from users in this thread, I finally got SS2 to work.

But, it's not working as intended. Take a look:

As you can see, random buildings have spawned out of nowhere as soon as the addon kicked in. This started happening when I loaded my save and SS2 began working (had to disable ASAM Maul mod for it SS2 to start). Saw one of these buildings at Tenpines (I was there when I saved the game). Teleported to Sanctuary, and these were all over the place.

-Tried disabling every non-SS2 mod on Vortex, still the same issue.
-Tried disabling every mod, including SS2, launching the game via F4SEVR Loader, same issue.
-Started a new game without mods enabled, same issue. And it makes it impossible to move around the house, as the structures are overlapping and the house interior is "invaded" by these buildings.
-On every step, I deleted both text files named in this thread, Fallout4Custom and the other one. Same issue.

I really don't know what to do in order to get my game back to "normal" state. Did I screw my game? This wasn't happening until I disabled ASAM Maul mod (was trying to see if any mod could conflict with SS2 in VR) and SS2 kicked in.

It happens using SS2 Superstructures , due to VR version not supporting ESPs with FormIDs from 0x001-0x7FF due to an older/different version of the game EXE being used for VR. Older versions of the game reserved FormIDs from 0x001-0x7FF, this wasn't a consideration before since the game patch allowing use of these forms was back in December 2019 & very few players make the choice to stay on older game versions since they would miss out on newer F4SE mods. The game patch 1.10.163 enabled use of those for ESPs with at least one master file, thereby doubling the ESL new form limit. Another user brought this to my attention about FO4VR not supporting FormIDs from 0x001-0x7FF and asked me to make a version of Superstructures with FormIDs renumbered from 0x800. I have done so and uploaded it on the Nexus but I have not heard back afterwards about it. I don't own FO4VR nor own a VR headset so I can't personally try it on actual FO4VR, only the main game.

Although I'm really not sure why it would still appear if trying it with every mod disabled & uninstalled via Vortex, and assuming then tried from new game/rollbacked save. This suggests that the Vortex mod manager didn't correctly remove the BA2s from the Data folder nor remove/mark disabled the plugins from Plugins.txt. Another possible reason may be if both of the following are true: if the BA2s were manually unpacked to Data &/or continuing from the save was loaded despite the missing plugins warning upon selecting to load that save.

Try the "VR version" update ESP on SS2 Superstructures and see if these still appear from on a new game or on a save from before originally installing it.

Hello VersusXV, thank you so much for taking some time to type back. Indeed, completely uninstalling Superstructures, then installing the new version, fixed the issue! :dance2

I "kind of" thought about superstructures when the issue came up and disabled it at that moment. But here's where I goofed: I disabled the mod. But the file inside Data folder was still present, and the entry on the load order txt was still present. That led to the issue.

So I installed your latest version, started a brand new save... and I can finally (literally, after years of trying) play Fallout 4 in VR, with Sim Settlements enabled. I'm super happy, so here goes my thanks once again to you and everyone here. Hope my experience serves to people struggling with mods in VR.

Additional blah blah: So far, I've only got one CTD when leaving Vault 111 on this new save. Might be anything, so I'm not worried right now. Will monitor.
The only things I'll be focused on fixing from now is the fact that after all these steps I took, when entering power armor I suddenly become much more taller. And also, noticed the security baton I got on vault 111 wasn't properly registering hits (probably happens with every melee weapon as well). The 2nd issue might be because of "More Accurate Weapons" mod I installed WAY back in the day. Will check. Oh, and I'll see if I can find a way, as others have mentiones, to remove those constant updates in HUDFramework. Gosh, they're annoying.

That is good news!

I will have to see if there's any good way to handle this for future updates, so that renumbered formIDs can be preserved with none that were renumbered for this version ending up differently. The CK tends to create new forms with randomized formIDs, this means newer forms can have a lower formID than older ones which can mean different results upon renumbering formIDs. The game doesn't have cleanup to handle formIDs which no longer exist after an update or if forms end up shuffled, issues are likely to occur.

New games can be certain to work but that's not ideal, it's best if updates can easily work. I can't switch over to work on this solely on the renumbered version because players on 1.10.163 non VR will have save games which have loaded the main version of the plugin.

Hello! How long have you guys been playing with SS2 in VR? Asking as some mods cause problems down the line in VR (after some hours) and SS2 might be "too new" for old fo4vr exe... on the other hand - the ss2 is more optimized and ss1 works well in VR...

I got half way through the quest in VR with little to no problems. Life/school got in the way of me finishing. But what I do to pancake mods in VR Is experiment and finding what works in VR and what does not.
If you need more help, I did make a new tutorial here:

Thanks for the answer and pointing me to the new thread (search function is not good as 2 letters are too little to search for vr related stuff). Right now I decided to go with SS1 with VR as it works stable and for longer games (I'm using VR Essentials modlist from wabbajack). But I will get back to SS2 in VR some time in the future.

Say, you did half the quest - but how long have you been playing in VR with SS2 enabled and some settlements built? The author of the modlist said that there might be some problems that crop up not immediately or after couple of hours, but after longer game...

Can anyone lend me a reg key to launch FO4VREdit.exe?
It won't open due to missing reg key I have no chances to obtain, so I can't change headers to 0.95.
Game crashes on load without this step.

How to play Sim Settlements in VR
With the release of the SS2 trailer, I saw that lots of people asking how to get Sim Settlements 2 to work in VR. For the past year, I have been playing SS1 in VR with loads of mods. So I decided to make this post to help anyone who is trying to play SS1 or SS2 in VR.

DISCLAIMER! EVERY TIME YOU DOWNLOAD/UPDATE SS2 OR ANY MODS RELATED TO IT YOU HAVE TO CHANGE IT IN FO4VREDIT TO HEADER 0.95.
ALSO IF YOU USE FO4VRSE A POPUP WILL APERRER JUST PUSH OK IT JUST WORKS!

UPDATE: I will make a video in the future explaining how to download it and how to fix the problems y'all been having.

What you need:
FO4Edit: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2737
Sim Settlements 2: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/47976/
Mods that Sim Settlements 2 requires:

Now install Sim Settlements as you would normally for VR. Once Sim Settlements is downloaded in your Fallout 4 VR profile go to the FO4Edit file and unzip it into any file you want if haven't already. Inside this file, there should be an application called FO4Edit.exe rename it to FO4VREdit.exe.

So seems like I have a unique problem here as nobody else in the thread has mentioned it, but when I assign a leader NPC to my settlement and let them build on their own, I get about halfway through the arial shot sequence before the game straight up crashes to desktop. I get lifted into the air, watch my settlement get torn to the ground and then BAM! Done. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
