Announcement: Rise of the Commonwealth

Now for the most important question, has there been any crippling bugs found or are we still good for the 29th?.

I've watched the trailer about 20 times now. So cool how there are different styles of building for settlements. Like the settlers there have a collective aesthetic for their own community. Some look like Mad Max junktown, some look like a port fishing town, some have buildings shoulder to shoulder with narrow alleyways, some settlements have buildings with more privacy and wide open walkways. I like the style of the settlement at timestamp 1:48 in the trailer:

The settlers are patching up the holes in the roof of the building as they upgrade. XD Nordhagen? I don't know the names.

So this auto build feature for settlements. When it comes to sanctuary will it leave the sole survivors house untouched? Every play through no matter where I make my main base that is MY house.

I'd really like to see a Vault-City/Post-GECK city at some point. Like from Fallout 2's Vault City. There are several vaults around the commonwealth and none of them had a GECK? It would be cool to see it used as intended instead of for a stupid water purifier.

Those adobe style houses, walls and dual laser turrets were really cool too.

It might, but you should be able to customize ,maybe rearrange a few things ;) but the main thing you don't have to use it in every settlement. only a few more days then u will know for sure:)

Just noticed in the video that at about 1:50 a windmill is added to the lighthouse. If it gives us some building options that add to the unique but difficult to use existing buildings at the settlements I'll be very happy.

I am really looking forward to the 29th. What Kinggath has done is amazing. But what also gets me excited is Uituit and Kytampe are here liking you-alls comments.

That gives me hope that after the 29th the crew will be going a little nuts with even more content and creative twists!

Yes guys, I am watching which comments you are liking! :)

Really looking forward to the expansion, but I have to ask, will SS and Industrial have updates (on XBox) on the 29th as well?
Just dreading the thought of having to reorganise my load order [again] (with all of the SS Add-Ons I have, if SS itself gets a new update at the same time) before I can use the expansion.

I was pretty much done with FO4 after 400 hours or so. I still haven't discovered all of the locations yet, but I really did enjoy building nightclubs and hotels for my settlers. Then SS came out, and well, now I'm up to 1,700+ hours logged. SS 3.0 will have me starting yet another playthrough. Though, to be sure, I haven't played "through" since the first time I installed SS. I don't even care about the rest of the game anymore.

Kinggath, thank you for all the joy! And lost sleep. And missed work.

Excitement. I never seem to can make a good looking settlement. Hopefully this fixes that problem of mine!

Looks great. One question... If some of the new city builds are high up, like finch farm, will we need any sandboxing mods to allow our settlers to utilise the high areas

This new expansion looks stellar. The only question I have is how hands-off can settlement building be?

I would love to be able to set down a town plot and let those wacky settlers take care of everything, food, housing, defense, everything.

Prolly not :) a lot of testing has been done so I'm sure that issue has been looked at :)

Preston will tell u very soon ;)

Are there new martial plots added to the mod with this expansion? (other than the ones already added from the IR expansion)

And another thing: Inhowfar is this automatic settlement building compatible with regular, manual building? For example, I let the settlers build up sanctuary, but I still want a house there. Will there be some way of finding a safe place, where I can be sure that no settler-generated building clips into it?
A Sanctuary house is kind of easy. Other locations... YMMV. I use Sympathy's Sanctuary Hot Springs mod. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/17575 It's just down the river from the main settlement. The best part is, settlers will not go there unless you tell them to make it their new home. The bunker itself is loaded with stuff, and it's an indoor cell. You can strip the whole thing down and rebuild it to your liking. Thing is, there is plenty of room up top to build a good sized house. It's a separate exterior cell. This shot is from before I added a grove of trees around the gravestones.

To build Mac's new digs, I used the 2x2 SS foundations and went from there. The whole structure is roughly around 6x10 blocks, two stories high. There are two different workbenches, both are inside the fuseboxes.... and very small. The exterior one is available straight away once you find it. Read the SHS mod description to figure out how to get inside the bunker. One minor glitch of my own making is the fast travel marker. I made that low scaffold platform to get out onto the small pier. The marker is directly underneath it. FYI, the pier extends out to the edge of the build area. There's a little room out there, but not much.
