Primary Bug Report The Coolest Cat - Quest fails to progress upon being force-greeted by the Gunners

To Kinggath and the whole team, thanks for doing what you do with thee mods.

I have hit an impassable issue with The Coolest Cat. When you are supposed to find The Ron, walking up to the Gunners outside results in a locked camera and no dialogue options as the large armored gunner walks up to you then turns away. I have already tried disabling mods that directly affect Diamond City with no luck. Load order below. Thanks in advance for your help.

I am late to chime in but I encountered several issues when using XDI on another playthrough (not SS2 related since I was using SS1 at the time) and all were with vanilla quests and/or conflicts causing other mods to stop working. Removing XDI from my loadorder completely solved this issue for me and I also had no problem with this particular SS2 quest. For this reason I am pointing strongly at XDI for being the culprit here. Strangely enough it seems to be a problem that is very hard to nail down precisely, since it seems to be dependand on the combination of mods XDI is used with. Some work good - others don't but for me the easiest solution was to eliminate the one single common factor - XDI.

Yep. XDI is listed as not compatible in the wiki. However there's a patch: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/48254
Is your description related to the patched or unpatched version?
 
Both - the patched version solved issues with SS but - just as the unpatched one - did not solve issues with vanilla quests and various other mods that use dialogues.
I consider XDI a fairly high risk mod for this respect but naturally, that is a personal opinion of mine.
 
I have used XDI since it was released. I have not had a problem with vanilla quests. It makes me curious why they broke for you.

My patch does not touch The Coolest Cat quest. The only quest that breaks when using XDI with SS2 is the radio scene during Where There's Smoke. The other 2 quests that my patch touches are merely cosmetic. I have played the SS2 MQ to completion 9 times and XDI has been in my LO each time. I don't even want to think about the insane number of times I played through quests while creating and testing my patch... :cray

There were quite a few reports of problems with the Gunners dialog during the early versions of SS2. IIRC, the #1 solution was turning the dialog camera back on. There was also a mod conflict found, but I can not remember what mod.
 
Not entirely sure what it is but each time I got to the Curie quest with XDI in my load order it got stuck. XDI removed and all was fine.
It also interferes with several mods that allow multiple companions and use the dialogue options to control them. Liga of Companions is amongst those.
Basically any mod that uses the dialogue can be affected - to varying degrees.
 
Weird. I have not had any issues with any quests related to Currie.

Yes, there are a lot of Quest / Companion mods that do not get along very well with XDI. I have talked to a couple mod authors about it. No one really knows why XDI causes the issues in the first place. Heck, just adding some text to the quest scene in Who Can? ASAM! breaks the quest so the city plan is never built. I'm not even convinced that I solved the problem correctly as my "I know what I'm doing" skill is not high enough!
 
This is one of the few quests that never gives me issues surprised so many others have so many issues with it. I’d guess its a mod conflict some where but I’ve ran a ton of mods on a ton of play throughs with no issues either. Will say I’ve never used xdi though so my best guess would be ditch xdi until it’s fixed.
