Primary Bug Report The Coolest Cat - Quest fails to progress upon being force-greeted by the Gunners

To Kinggath and the whole team, thanks for doing what you do with thee mods.

I have hit an impassable issue with The Coolest Cat. When you are supposed to find The Ron, walking up to the Gunners outside results in a locked camera and no dialogue options as the large armored gunner walks up to you then turns away. I have already tried disabling mods that directly affect Diamond City with no luck. Load order below. Thanks in advance for your help.

I am on my way to see The Ron. On the way, I was stopped by two gunners and the game stopped progressing. I can't move my mouse, all of them including my characters just stand there.1603646747578.png
 
Here is my solution.
Jump on the fence. it wil trigger this gunner to walk towards you but you will not be locked. then just simply run on the side, enter the building. then feel free to go back to this gunner and start the duologue1603647749329.pngl

I heed you advice and covertly entered the office without the knuckleheads talking to me. It work! The problem now is those two guys are just standing there and not talking to me. Atleast the story is progressed now.
 
Whenever I go to DC to talk to the gunner, I just get locked into dialogue without any options. I can’t move, look around, or say anything. Is there a way I can fix this, or is there going to be a patch for it?

(P.S. This mod is the reason I got back into fallout 4, thank you for that amazing work of art)
 
At least one other user and I have run into the same thing. I'm glad to know that it's not an esoteric mod conflict on my end. I haven't heard of a work around yet, but fingers crossed for the next hotfix.
 
I noticed that two other users posted about this bug yesterday, but I figured I'd raise it as well since neither of those threads really found a solution beyond running past the Gunners and talking directly to The Ron. As with those users, when the tall Gunner calls out "Hey you!" and moves to talk to you, the screen becomes locked in place right around the point that my dialogue options should appear. I experimented a bit and found I could still move around and look as he approached me, but once he got close enough to trigger the player dialogue prompt it locked up.

Note that the game wasn't frozen or crashed in any way - this is entirely just the camera locking in place and look/move controls ceasing to respond. The console still worked and the game continued running; I was able to escape the freeze by using the "kill" command on the tall Gunner, which puts him into a "downed" state as with any essential NPC, but once he recovers and restarts his dialogue the issue repeats. I'm not including a load order since I'm reasonably confident that there's no conflicts; the only mods I can think of that might be related are Diamond City Expanded, a Gunners outfit pack, and Extended Dialogue Interface, none of which caused any issues prior to this (I even visited The Ron before I learned his role in the story!).

EDIT: May have found a workaround/solution of the sort! I tried just pressing every button and the dialogue seemed to advance when I pressed E (my interact key). Still worth looking into.

Right, I’ve seen that a few others were having the same issue as I am, I too get locked in place when spoken to by the gunners outside of The Ron’s Office, I’ve managed to bypass this by just shooting the gunners and hiding inside then sitting down, Just wanted to put this out there.
 
As soon as i open the gate, the big guy comes towards me and then all controls freezes and i can't do anything anymore.
No dialogue, no pipboy access... All i can do is reload the game but it still does the same thing over and over.
 
multiple threads on this already, just gotta wait for a patch :( Same problem here. You can skip it by disabling him in console and re-enabling after the Ron, but I don't know how that will affect your ability to carry on the dialogue later.
 
Never had a problem with this. Are you sure it's not a mod conflict. This time round I'm only using very minimalist mods. I.e. just ss2, hud, workshop frame work.
 
I've seen people guess that it was a conflict with XDI (extended dialog interface) but I use it and this scene played out fine. (v1.0.0a and v1.0.0b)
 
Same issue he says “Hey!” Walks over to me and then it’s stuck like there’s meant to be dialogue but just stays that way forever (well I loaded a save after 5 mins, so maybe not technically forever)
 
Weird... I got past the gunner dialogue no problem... but The Ron won't start a dialogue que when I try to speak with him. Doh... ne'er mind... didn't realize you had to sit in the chair by his desk for him to start talking....
