Resolved Swapped Settlement Plans

Hey all! My city planner desk at Abernathy Farm claims it’s located at Murkwater Construction Site. Like, under “manage city plan” says its for Murkwater and the details are for Murkwater; zeros on everything since I haven’t gotten that settlement yet. My Red Rocket claims to be Hangman’s Alley. Sunshine Tiddings is claiming to be Spectacle Island. The builds haven’t changed and none of the other settlements are affected.

If you build a new desk in the settlements that are displaying the incorrect information, does the new desk show correctly? If not, can you fast travel away and return to see if the new desk updates?

Nope, new desks show the same incorrect information. I tried refreshing the build to see if it was just glitched but it claimed I wasn’t affiliated with the Settlement, which is true for Murkwater, Spectcle and Hangman. I’ll try fast traveling to and from Abernathy and see if anything changes.

It's possible one of your mods has altered the workshops array that Sim Settlements relies on. If you go to one of the incorrect settlements, for example, Murkwater, and build a desk there, does it also show the incorrect settlement name?

It’s completely blank. As in “Welcome to ____” on the city details.

I tried to assign Ada as the city leader and it reverted back to “You aren’t allied to this settlement”.

Ok, yeah - it sounds like your workshops array is screwed up. The only mods I know that usually mess with that are Alternate Start mods.

The other way it can happen, is if you install and then uninstall either Conquest, or any mods that add new settlements.

Do any of those things apply to your character?

I don’t have any mods like that on this play through....mostly just companion mods and your stuff. I’ve been keeping it fairly light. But it’s entirely possible I had something and then deleted it and then forgot. Is there anyway to fix it?

Could Idek’s logistics station cause this sort of problem? That’s the most complicated mod I’ve downloaded and then deleted.

I doubt Idek's could cause it. If your workshops array is screwed up, the only way to "fix" it, would be to clean save out Sim Settlements, so that it can use whatever your new array data is.

Doing this will reset your Sim Settlements progress back to zero. To do this, you'd disable all things Sim Settlements by unchecking them from your Load Order screen, then load your game, make a new copy of the save, then re-enable your Sim Settlements mods and load that new copy of the save. Now go grab the holotape again, build a new desk in one of your trouble settlements and see if it's working correctly now.

Okay, I’m going to have to call it quits for now but I’ll do this first thing during my next session. Thanks for your help and the awesome mods!!

Okay, I went and did exactly what you said and Red Rocket is still reading as Hangman. I went through my mod list with a fine tooth comb and disabled or deleted anything that wouldn't break my save. So I'm basically bare bones and I repeated the process with no luck. I know this is user error but do you have any other ideas for me?

did you disabled all the add on pack too cause if you dont fallout re activate sim settlement for me when i did this but you can check in game under "mods" if sim settlement is activated or not for real.

Can you try rolling up a new character and playing for a bit? If the same issue occurs, that will confirm if it's one of your current mods causing problems. I'm still not sure if this is a workshops array issue or if it's something that can be fixed. Once we know the cause though, I can work backwards from that and try and get you a good solution.

I am having the same issue with Oberland Station claiming it's Spectacle Island. I am running Uncapped Settlement Surplus - Nexus Mods: 12430 - which may be causing the issue. It has an interesting mechanic where you can delay storage choices for 24 hours (game time).

It has an uninstaller, which I am going to use and then report back.

Thanks again. This settlement overhaul (too big and awesome to be just a "mod") is a lot of fun and definitely rejuvenated FO4 for me

Ran Uncapped Settlement Surplus's uninstaller per the instructions and deleted the mod - City Planning Desk in Oberland Station still says "Spectacle Island". Tried scrapping the desk and rebuilding it with no luck. I did notice that rebuilding the desk did not appear to require extra resources (nothing listed on the build screen). I'm not sure if this means that even though the model was scrapped, SS was still "connected" to the workshop.

Think of the desk as a terminal connecting to the settlement "mainframe" and you wouldn't be too far off. It's just an interface to all the gears and stuff under the hood.

@celery551 If you build a desk in Spectacle Island - what settlement does it claim to be?
