[solved] Abernathy Locket Missing.

The abernathy locket for the Abernathy farms seems to be missing from the Olivia base. I have gone there and cleared it with Stranger/Jake but the locket was not where it usually is.

I had the same problem you had, the locket was not there when I went to Olivia with Jake. When I went back later, the locket was there. I am sure the locket was missing the first time because I triple checked, then went to Abernathy to see if I could start the quest. Blake didn't give me the option to start the quest, so it seems that was bugged.

Try going back to Olivia and see if that works, save before you talk to Blake.

I had the same, but I went there before talking to the Abernathy guy. After I went back and talked to him he told me about that locket, then I went back and there it was.
 
The locket is spawned by quest MinRecruit03, if you haven't agreed to take over the Minutemen, this quest is not started and the locket won't be there.

(This isn't be remembering it either - I just traced through the Creation Kit to confirm how Bethesda set it up and to make sure nothing we did in Olivia would interfere)
 
Well that is very odd Kinggath.
I had not been anywhere near the farm let alone spoken to Blake to trigger the quest, but when I went and did Olivia with Jake guess what was in it's usual place. When I did go to the farm after the Olivia mission and speak to Blake even a text option appeared along the lines of "I have already collected the locket" which completed the quest. So that locket CAN be present at Olivia without triggering the quest for it.
 
But, you need to start the first main radiant quest, I think. After you rescue the group at the museum, and go back to Sanctuary, Garvy asks you to help Ten Pines. I normally go right to there, and you go by Olivia, so I clear out Olivia, and had Jake with me. The locket is there (or has been every time I play, which is a lot) before you see Abernathy. I also did Jakes quest, he gives you another quest, which can be done after you clear out the Corvega plant, so there is no conflict with SS2's quest.
 
While I won't say that this is strictly a SS2 bug, as I had installed other mods at the same time as SS2, and have yet to fully test without those mods yet...

I noticed that the locket was missing because I have a routine that I have done for countless of play throughs...

Come out of the vault, clear Sanctuary of flies and roaches, talk to Coddsworth. ( since you have cleared the town, you don't have to follow him about).
Stop by the mailbox and pick up the 2 grenades. cross the bridge, clear out the duffle bag, and continue along the shoreline to the pipe in the water.
Follow the pipe up, pick up the .44 snub nose, ammo, rad-away and med-x.
Clear out the 3 raiders and the dog. swing a little south, grab the items from the open safe in the old house foundation, kill some mole rats.
Continue up to the robot junkyard, grab the mini nuke, hack the bot for a temp companion...
Hit up Olivia, grab the locket, get the key to the storage room, grab the magazine.
Head back towards concord, clear out the Quarry, grab the magazine,
By pass Concord (because screw Preston Garvey for the whiner he is...)
Hit up Red Rocket, get myself a doggo, kill some mole rats...
Then off to Abernathy Farms!
Talk to Old Man Abernathy: he tells me farming ain't easy. complains about raiders, mentions his dead daughter and the missing locket...
"Oh hey, I found this! is it yours?" (or some such...)
He's impressed that I have it and lets me use his workshop...

Now in just under an hour, I have cleared out 3 build areas, gained about 5 levels, set up the next little raider pit to clear out for more XP in 3 days.. (the Quarry remember?)

As it stands right now, the locket is not there, and Blake never mentions it... (should be noted that Preston is in Sanctuary.. but I'm avoiding him, because well.. he's whiney and needy and very clingy. Its not a healthy way to build a relationship :P)

I'll try to test with a fully disabled mod list and see if the issue still comes up...
But it should be noted that you never actually have to talk to Preston to get any of the settlement ownership quests to trigger, you just have to be at the settlement at the right time (random) to get a settler to approach you and say "We could really use your help" (The opening to usually a kidnap, Greenskin/raider clearing quest.) Simply complete that quest, and the settlement workshop is yours :D

Trust me... Over 3000 Hours logged in to Fallout 4, over HUNDREDS of restarts... I know my loop :D

(what can I say... I like to build cities... until the game crashes... then I start over.. Best so far was 45 settlers and just under 100 plots.. )

Ok, Found it.
It was due to an unrelated mod. I have contacted that mod author so they can investigate more.

First playthrough with CMRQL. Abernathy didn't give me the quest nor was there a locket at Olivia. Had to force ownership of the workshop.

Damn. I thought it was an upgraded "Keep radients in the commonwealth". I just don't want P.A.M. sending me to Nuka World.
 
I just started encountering this issue. The mods that I just started using, that I haven't used before, are the unofficial fallout patch and raze. I've had numerous playthroughs with SS2 being installed and the locket has been where it is supposed to be in each one pf those playthroughs. Can anyone else confirm this?

I know this says solved but, this is a new development for me.

I use both those mods and have never had an issue with the locket.

I can confirm it. Never had a problem before during ss1 and ss2 times, but now it didn't spawn. I have unofficial, but not raze.
The box had a paintbrush at least, so it spawned something... just not the locket.

Returning the Favor question is listed in the data tab, so it was given by Abernathy. But I met him after the Casting the Line quest, unlike every other time where I ended up at the farm much earlier than completing that quest.
