Duplicates Recently Upgraded Croup Manner crash (repeatable)

ok, now the bad part.

disable all those weapons and armor mods and see if it still crashes. dont save the game after loading in. we dont actually want to get rid of them, just see if one of them is the culprit.
Oh shit lol alright ill try that. Whats the fastest way to do that? Select them all and click "disable all files" ?

doesnt matter how they get disabled... may be able to go to the plugins tab and just uncheck them.

if this gets you into the settlement reenable half of them and see if it crashes, if not do the other half. and disable the first half again. we are playing the guess the problem mod so doing things by dividing in half will narrow it down.

if ot still crashes even with them not loaded, disable everything except dlc and ss... we need to find a working configuration to establish a baseline. if we cant then we are going to probably dig into the save with fallrim tools resaver and check running scripts.

edit: going to sleep soon, will check back early in the morning and see if any of this stuff helped.

I just went to nordhagen beach first after disabling all the weapon and armor mods, still crashed. Going to try Croup Manor next.

Got a nice complement from Cait though since i was naked.

An update:

I tried doing it with just weapons and armor mods disabled: the result was the same. Both problem settlements (Croup Manor and Nordhagen Beach) still crashed to desktop.

I tried disabling all mods except the dlc and SS, and the result was still the same: both settlements crashed to desktop during multiple attempts.

I saw that you said you were going to sleep soon, so let me know what the next step is when you can.

So i was curious about FallrimTools that you mentioned in the previous post and decided to download and try it out. I loaded my save game and saw that it had 11 instances. All of them say "warning: object missing!" and a few of them have data points attached.

So far ive found

1 actor
1 form
1 If88LLinjector
1 inputenablelayer
1 message
1 ObjectMod
1 Object Reference
1 VisualEffect
1 Weapon
1 weaponholster
1 weaponholsterplayer

All of them say object missing as i said above, but a few of them have data pop up and im honestly clueless about this stuff so i was wondering if that was okay to clean. The instructions say:

  1. Unzip the FallrimTools archive somewhere.
  2. Double-click on ReSaver.exe.
  3. Choose your savegame.
  4. You should see a tree structure that has all of the save's script elements.
  5. The #1 thing that most people need is to remove script instances that are not attached to anything.
  6. Go to the "Clean" menu and select "Show Unattached Instances". This will filter the list and show only the script instances that aren't attached to anything.
  7. Go to the "Clean" menu and select "Remove Unattached Instances".
  8. Save to a new file.
  9. Load your savegame in Skyrim/Fallout and make sure it's working properly
I just wanted to double check to see if i should go ahead and do it, or if you wanted to do something different.

Thanks

Some unattached instances are ok. Can you put all your mods back online now, we've ruled them out as the culprits.

What we really need to look for are active scripts, can you expand that and post a screenshot?

At this point the crash is unlikely to be related to your mods unless they baked something nasty into your save. If that's the case, well... lets hope that's not the case.

The number of active scripts should be very low, 2-3 running at most (usually 0). If you have lots, then we need to find the bad guy and kill it so the others catch up.

ESPECIALLY if you have lots of workshop scripts running. There was a bug when 3.0.2 came out that caused an infinite loop, the same instructions for killing the bad scripts would also apply here.

Any idea what's in the workbench at these settlements? If you've got a surplus uncapper loaded, that can cause issues as well.

I do run the settlemnet bat file that extends build limit in all my settlements in FO4.

Let me pull up what you are asking for, do you want me to clean the items i mentioned before?

My load order is large and extensive, and yet I am able to runs settlement that are about 10x larger than diamond city without issues other than frame rate. I know why I don't crash all the time lol, gaming rig and choice of mods are two very important reasons.

I have older mods in there, and what order are you referring to? That order has been working for me for the last year or more with zero conflicts, zero game errors, and no crashes despite the occasional ones that always happen even with unmodded games. I ran my load order through loot, can you guess how many red conflicts?

Three. That's with 2500 hours playing the game. That isn't the loot approved load order though, since it wouldn't let me apply it due to an error I couldn't understand. That's the original load order, in all its messy glory, and it's been perfect.

One of the red ones being a warning that you mentioned about the new snap and build esm that I don't have downloaded. Pretty sure I'm doing it semi-right if the only issues I'm dealing with are after downloading sim settlements and rotc. That's why I'm here, to help fix them.

Apologies if I came off sarcastic or in a non optimistic way. Not the case. I'm just really surprised your game functions at all. I've spent a fair amount of time troubleshooting my own load order over the years with various bethesda games and have come to a realization that even the smallest errors can cause massive issues as games go on. I'm currently sitting at 330 active plugins, 251 of which are either esm and esps, and the rest esl. Other than some read error saves that I can't get fallrim tools to open (which isn't causing crashing amusingly), I am 95% crash free. If a settlement crashes for me, it's most likely due to me running into a heavily modded cell that I'm not giving enough time to load. Usually rare, and a reload almost always fixes it.

To point out a few issues with your load order (and I don't use loot myself as the variations in load orders can get too complex and random, I think it's crucial to build your own list and check it yourself in f04edit).

I know for a fact that this esp right here basically overrides every other weapon leveled list for any boss characters for any other weapons above it (also several vendor lists).
*mjp_PTRS41ATR.esp

You probably have a bunch of boss level characters running around BOOOOOMMMMing everything in a two kilo radius with that rifle. BOS, Gunners, and the occasional raider who was supposed to be carrying a missile launcher. If you don't, it means the leveled lists are being overwritten by another mod as I don't see any merged patches in your load order. I personally converted that esp to an esl and stripped the leveled lists out as well as most of the vendors. Great gun, but the leveled lists are insane, and any other weapon mod you might have that edits the same lists is being overridden (if it's not script injected, but still issues with that mod regardless).

So you've been playing your game for 2500 hours without actually getting the proper experience as many of the mods below any mods that override them omit the data they carry. You'll have a much better game experience if those conflicts are resolved. Might not fix your SS issues, but it will make your game more stable.

Not going to look through your entire list with a fine tooth comb, but I can quickly point out a few problem mods I've removed from my own list due to serious errors.
*Gatling Laser Overhaul.esp - Mesh issues or something, causes random crashes. Fun but buggy. There was one mod in particular that was a mess...I forget as it's been so long.
*WelcometoGoodneighbor.esp (used this once a longgg time ago and noticed it doesn't play nice with a lot of mods) - Even the SS nexus page has this: Welcome to Goodneighbor - This mod has a number of problems. With Sim Settlements it can cause the Call Town Meeting function to get permanently stuck in a black screen. It can also cause your settlers to quit functioning.
*Survivalist GoBag.esp - Eventually will cause your armor bench to crash when scrolling over a bag. Repeatable bug. Shame as it was a favorite. I'm back to the old backpack mod, but it works great.

Never had any issues with meshes or crashes caused by gatling laser overhaul (and i used the gatling laser exclusively for a long time with power armor and the liberty laser mod), never had any issues with the PTRS ATR showing up more than i wanted it to, but yes there have been plenty of bosses using it and it makes it incredibly fun. Welcome to Good Neighbor i can probably remove since i never go there anyway, and ive never had survivalist go bags crash my game.

In short: my 2500 hours weren't actually diminished at all.

Thanks for the information though, i appreciate the time you took to explain your view on it but i don't think any of this has anything to do with the crashes im experiencing currently with SS and RoTC. Either way i have to go through my own load order at some point and update everything and likely remove stuff that isn't relevant anymore.

Any word on the cleaning and on the active scripts?
That doesn't look too overly bad. Some questionable stuff in there but nothing appears to be breeding out of control.

We've exhausted most of the basic stuff, what's left is things like making sure that the video card driver is up to date, making sure that you don't have too much crap in the workbenches, trying to scrap the settlement from just inside the build area without approaching any closer than absolutely necessary, etc.

Well i didnt touch the active scripts, and i cannot get within 80 meters of the settlements in question without crashing. My drivers are now up to date as well. Ill check the workbench when i log in, should i just clear it out? I mean, i wouldnt be able to check the work benches at those settlements anyway so

I didn't get it right

9b1be.removeAllItems player
1654bd.removeAllItems player

Will wipe the workbench inventory for Nordhagen and Croup and put it all to the player's inventory.

After i do this do i try and go to those settlements again?

You just pulled both workbenches into personal inventory so you might be running a bit overweight :)
Yes, save that to a new slot without overwriting a previous save and try visiting and see if that helps you get in the door.

And before you break both legs, your back and flatten 16 brahmans trying to carry that load...
toggle god mode on. ;)
