Patch 3.1.6 - Performance 101

thanks again, sir!

I can't wait to see all the updates in my game!
Hope it kills my crashes :)

I may or may not have an issue. I got the notification saying that it had updated to 3.1.6, but the pop up graphics setting thing did not pop up. The impression I got was that it would pop up automatically, do I have to trigger it in the holotape settings instead?

I didn’t get it either. I also tried doing it manually in holotape and it says it’s launching it but nothing happens.

Hmm - checking on what happened. If that's not triggering then the scripts didn't update, which is no good.

I can confirm Marc's experience. I get a message saying "Launching Performance Wizard" but nothing happens. Waited till I went AFK. Also, I had about an hour of real world playtime from when I updated to when I tried to trigger through the holotape, so hopefully it shouldnt be a script pileup issue.

Looks like my updated BA2 file failed to save, I probably had the CK open at the time and didn't realize it. Uploading 3.1.6a now.

Thank you sir. Your awesome.

Can you download 3.1.6a from nexus and let me know if it works?

Yup, just waiting for it to finish uploading to nexus. I will report here as soon as I get it back in game.

It works now. Popped up right after game load automatically. Thank you for the fast fix, you guys are great.

Quick question. I noticed that it wasn't necessary to update RotC or IR, but I noticed an update for them to the current version number so I downloaded them. Oddly though, NMM and Wrye Bash are reporting RotC 3.1.6a as 3.1.6 and IR is reporting 3.1.6 as 3.1.1. Hopefully, it's just a version description typo, but you might want to check.

@kinggath I noticed when you choose the option of what system you run it asks if you want it set you your performance settings for you. I choose to let it do for me and then verified with ones I have been running from the Xbox One X test and they are completely wrong.

@kinggath, Heh, this is why I run Archive2 through the command line, at least lately. I'm a lot less likely to make mistakes when everything is sorted out for me with one quick batch script.

An example batch script for Sim Settlements + the full XB1 version would probably look like this:
Code:
set _fo4dir=C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout 4\

"%_fo4dir%\Tools\Archive2\Archive2.exe" "%_fo4dir%\Data\Textures\AutoBuildPlots" -c="%_fo4dir%\Data\SimSettlements - Textures.ba2" -r "%_fo4dir%\Data\" -f=DDS -compression=Default
"%_fo4dir%\Tools\Archive2\Archive2.exe" "%_fo4dir%\Data\Textures\AutoBuildPlots" -c="%_fo4dir%\Data\XB1\SimSettlements - Textures.ba2" -r "%_fo4dir%\Data\" -f=XBoxDDS -compression=XBox
"%_fo4dir%\Tools\Archive2\Archive2.exe" -s="SimSettlements-achlist.txt" -c="%_fo4dir%\Data\SimSettlements - Main.ba2" -r "%_fo4dir%\Data\" -f=General -compression=Default
"%_fo4dir%\Tools\Archive2\Archive2.exe" -s="SimSettlements-achlist.txt" -c="%_fo4dir%\Data\XB1\SimSettlements - Main.ba2" -r "%_fo4dir%\Data\" -f=General -compression=XBox
also make SimSettlements-achlist.txt and stick it in the same directory as the above batch script, and populate it with something like this
Code:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout 4\Data\Interface\SimSettlements\
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout 4\Data\Materials\AutoBuildPlots\
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout 4\Data\Meshes\AutoBuildPlots\
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout 4\Data\Meshes\SS_PBP\
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout 4\Data\Sound\Voice\SimSettlements.esm\
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout 4\Data\Sound\fx\AutoBuildPlots\
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout 4\Data\Scripts\AutoBuilder\
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout 4\Data\Scripts\KGHelpers\
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout 4\Data\Scripts\SimSettlements\
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout 4\Data\Interface\SimSettlements_TechTree.swf
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout 4\Data\Interface\WorkshopMeters.swf
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout 4\Data\Meshes\AnimTextData\AnimationFileData\932991845161943072.txt
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout 4\Data\Meshes\AnimationOffsets\AnimationFileData\932991845161943072.txt
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout 4\Data\Meshes\AnimationStanceData\AnimationFileData\932991845161943072.txt
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout 4\Data\Meshes\SyncAnimData\AnimationFileData\ResolvedSyncAnimDataSimSettlements.txt
I think that should cover everything in the Sim Settlements archive, anyway. For some annoying reason, it seems that Archive2 requires full paths for any files passed to it either via the command line, or an archive list, but that's not too big of a deal (alt+drag in Notepad++ is handy).

I don't even do very many releases and this saves me so much trouble, not having to deal with fiddly little GUIs all of the time.

Sorry, @kinggath , but the 3.1.6 and 3.1.6a seems to be causing a lot of problems! Certain buildings not completing construction but staying in an endless construction loop; settlers ignoring orders to Move or assigning themselves to different plots than the ones I assigned them to.

Is another hotfix on the way?

I'm also having issues but for just one settlement where most Sanctuary buildings don't complete. If I refresh just one plot or all plots nothing seems to happen but I do see the rabbits in recreational plots disappear and reappear but otherwise the building remains unfinished. The full local rebuild goes very quickly since the plots aren't being completely rebuilt. These are level 3 buildings generally since it's my first settlement. Sanctuary has no city plan. Red Rocket has a city plan and plots there refresh as expected and are complete.

I already uninstalled and reinstalled 3.1.6 for the 3 main mod and tried resetting SS data and reapplying the performance wizard.

When I uninstalled I checked to make sure there weren't any Sim Settlements source folders or archives left over.

Edit: I went back to a previous save before I visited Sanctuary and I can see the buildings are incomplete before I enter the settlement.

Edit2: Going back to 3.1.5 allowed me to refresh the plots and it took a long freaking time to run. Before it would just flip through the plots and stop prematurely. I'll redownload 3.1.6 tomorrow maybe.

Is there a way to clear all running scripts for a settlement and start them over without destroying all of the plots?

Those weren't the setting for Xbox One X that you were using. They are the ones we have been testing on all Xbox versions. After a lot of testing, I figured out which were the least system intensive and turned those back on for the X since it has 4 GB more memory.
