Just asking to make sure SS2 is not breaking nukaworld Home sweet Home claim out outpost portion

Updating re: my test run.
I've not run into an issue claiming a settlement for a raider gang. Was able to build the gang flag with the most recent releases installed.

@Ser_Sunday I would not recommend de-activing SS2 mid game in any circumstances. Would surely break something eventually
I only de-activated SS2 once I realized my game was bugged and I wasn't able to capture raider outposts. I figured if that save was potentially screwed already then turning SS2 off and trying to capture the outpost would be a fast way to troubleshoot it.

Alright so it sounds like me and the OP need to compare mod-lists and see what we have in common and work backwards from there. Thanks for helping test stuff out!

I have no idea why it only started working for me after I removed SS2 but I guess I'll start up a few new saves and try to figure it out. Any ideas on what other mods could potentially cause this sort of issue?

I'd be looking at any mod that changes workshop, if you can't build the gang flag.

I did notice that the Claim outpost objective did not update when I buillt the gang flag. That objective did not update until I talked to the lead operator at the settlement after placing the flag.

talking to the raider after is standard to completing the quest sometimes, but to be fair I did get past the first settlement but the second one I couldnt build the flag at all.

All useful information! I was playing around with it a bit more yesterday and noticed that on my approach to the settlement I wasn't getting a quest marker to meet the raider gang before starting the attack. After searching the area a bit I couldn't find them so I just did things the old fashioned way and started shooting people. After everyone was dead my gang ran in from somewhere and I was able to plant a flag normally.

The fact that Hill200 could claim his first settlement but had issues on the second and the weird lack of updating objectives in both my and Cessori's cases makes me wonder if the method or direction the player approaches the settlement is the root issue. Like maybe if you enter the cell and kill everything inside too fast the quest has trouble detecting that you completed it? I've seen similar issues in quests that require you to kill specific enemies Like sometimes if you kill them before the quest has a chance to update to the next phase it fails to register that you already completed the action so you get stuck.

Again, I appreciate all the input from everyone! I really wanted to do a "reformed raider" play-through so starting off with Nuka-world and then transitioning into SS2 story felt perfect but then I ran into this little hiccup.

Cool RP idea @Ser_Sunday !

Fallout 4, all by itself, has quest glitches. Modding it, can and often does add more. Some quests have trigger spots for sure and requirements (if this, then that), etc. and it's an old game now, but many of us still love it.
Troubleshooting is often pretty difficult - trying to get the same glitch to show up in game play. When I play I always save at the beginning of a quest, and reload if something doesn't work out. The SS2 Team does "additions", rather than "changes" to vanilla, and hasn't made any changes to the Nuka World DLC

I can continue my game play to claim another settlement, but I'm not sure how much that will actually help resolve anything for you

You've been mighty helpful Cessori, thanks for all the input. Having someone else out there able to confirm whether or not it was actually SS2 causing the root issue tells me it is something I can fix on my end. I'll keep at it and see if I can figure out how to fix it in case anyone else has the same issue and comes looking.

so I disable ss2 and it fixes the quest but I can no longer save I dont know if this info will help at all
SS2 doesn't like being removed from games. Its likely that data is now corrupt, sorry buddy. If you could post your modlist/loadorder here that'd be helpful though! We can cross reference your list with mine and potentially find the root issue.

Until the root cause is found what I'd recommend is to start a new game WITHOUT Sim Settlements installed and then go do nuka-world for awhile. Once you've done all the quests you want and are ready to do SS2 content go ahead and add it to that save like normal and proceed. Other people have posted that they're able to run both SS2 and Nuka-World content at the same time so we know it is possible but until we figure out whats causing the issue on our end there isn't much we're going to be able to do.

So looks like starting a new game and forcefeed me the nukaworld DLC and then use SS2 is like the best option here
also heres my current mod list hope this helps

I was hoping we'd only have like two or three mods in common but we actually run a lot of the same stuff. Yay for living dismemberment! Makes me wonder if there is some sort of unique combo we've managed to pull off that's causing this.

Anyways I've been going down the list slowly trying to see if one of the other mods we share being disabled causes things to suddenly work but so far I've had no luck. Meanwhile I started a save without Sim Settlements but still using all my other mods and things are working fine. I think it has something to do with the code of the workshop keeping certain things "locked" until the player completes set objectives to make them available. Like how you can't build residential plots until Jake shows up or can't build certain nuka-world decorations until you've cleared that zone. If I knew how to code I'd try and look into that more for potential conflicts.

But yeah, testing continues. I will continue to post my findings here in this thread in hopes that they'll be helpful to someone at some point.

hum no as I build settlement for the monthly comps I keep my load order strictly to what is allowed for that so ss2 plots and that is about it.

Also, you do not need a mod for population cap it is always your charisma +10 = how many settlers you can have. so the base given is 21 max with 10 charisma and a bobblehead. if you want more people then up your charisma bonus or console command your charm skill.

I haven't looked at my charisma score, but I got 10 on the regular scale, 1 from the bobblhead, one from my outfit and one from my minutemen cap. Yet I got 32 settlers at the Castle and am pushing 30 at Sanctuary.

In WSFW I set the settler cap to bed count, but for some reasons, the arrivals exceed that count. Such as at Coastal Cottage, where I noticed happiness dropping and made my way there to have a look for the reasons.

Also, named settlers, SS2, vanilla and from any other settler mod you're running, can be sent anywhere, without any caps.

Ok Looks like its SS2 tha broke the quest just finished Home sweet home on a new charakter
Hopefully the devs kann find what the issue is

just to make that sure.. you tried to forcefully capture the settlement with the 3 gang members as reinforcement and their flag stayed greyed out?
if thats so.. i confirm that this appears to be ss2 related... same problem on my end.

you can however raid and capture the nukaworld plus setlements by force... everything else... use your sweet talk abilities.

Yeah but it takes away the option to go full force i mean using talking sure but croup manor for example dose not work there
and it take away the option to be the bad Raider

Some settlements you have to use force on and can't be sweet talked. Places like Croup Manor or Starlight Drive-In that start off infested with creatures and not settlers can't be persuaded. You'd have to clear them normally first and turn it into a normal settlement and then go persuade it. But like EagleGundam says even if there is a small workaround it sucks having that option for immersion removed completely from the table.

Yeah so far I've been able to get "Home Sweet Home" to function just fine in every test run I did but as soon as I add SS2 to the save it breaks. Its weird because we had another guy in here who was able to place flags down just fine so I'm not sure where the conflict is coming from exactly. Wish I knew code @-@
