hello everyone,

I’ve posted a few times here trying to figure things out which thankfully has led to other users as well as moderators helping me out. However, I’ve reached a point where I’m contemplating doing an entire new play through. I’m on the Xbox one x with a heavily modded play through which includes sim settlements, rise of the commonwealth as well as a few of the add-ons. I love rise of the commonwealth but ever since I’ve installed it settlers seem to do.......nothing and just stand around. I have to manually order them to build beyond the foundations since they can’t be auto assigned work, and they don’t “interact” with their plots at all.

There are slight dips in FPS as well but nothing too serious. Saving/loading, entering and exiting menus seem to take far longer than usual. It could be that due to my lack of modding experience my play through is just screwed by the amount of mods or my load which I’ve been trying to get a handle of, and a new play through may be necessary but I’d thought I’d ask here first in case something like a clean save might work. I’d rather not restart from the beginning since I like to experience all the content, but in any settlement that has rotc equipped “mayor” settlers just stop working and save/load times are much longer.

Sorry for the long post but this mod and it’s addons are of such a high quality that I want to be able to enjoy then......

This sounds like your game's workshop scripts are backed up really badly. Usually parking your character somewhere for 20 minutes will resolve this.

When did you first start with RotC? If you happened to have started with version 3.0.3, you hit a bug that on Xbox can only be fixed by clean saving out Sim Settlements. You'll know you have that bug because accessing the ASAM Sensor menu on plots will take forever (by default it should only take a second or two, if not instant).

Accessing the ASAM modules is usually quick, a little slower than usual but only by a few seconds. I installed ROTC yesterday so it might possess the bug. How would I go about doing a clean save of sim settlements and it’s addons if I may ask? Any other advice?

Oh and beyond all of his, I wanted to say thank you for not only trying to help but also creating mods that not have vastly improved my game experience, but also created a collaborative effort than others can add their work onto. You should have been in charge of the settlement system during development.

The bug was in Sim Settlements itself, RotC just adds some assets. If you aren't experiencing the issue with the ASAMs, then I doubt you have it.

Unfortunately on Xbox we're pretty limited in trouble-shooting, as we don't have access to the papyrus logs or the save file editor. My guess is that your workshop scripts have gotten themselves into an infinite loop, which can happen over the course of play if you're adding and removing mods throughout it.

If you don't want to start the character over, you could try clean-saving out Sim Settlements to see if it was the cause of the problems. You'd have to start over your cities and plots, and find the holotape again, but your character would remain in tact.

While I’m dreading starting over, I’ve done it before due to mod issues so I’ll probably end up doing that. If anything it will probably enhance the experience given that I’ll be able to build settlements and watch them grow naturally instead of complete if all quests and just waiting around for settlements to upgrade to he next level. Anyways I wanted to thank you for the help especially given how busy you are. If it’s not too much to ask, is there an eta on when npcs other than companions will be able to become mayor? I only ask since starting over will probably mean a lot of time spent with companiknsbon the road.

My goal was this week, but I've been sick a lot lately thanks to my kid bringing home illnesses - so I'm not positive if I'll have it done in time. Should be within the next two patches. Though once I do that, people will need time to release a mod with them - though I wouldn't be shocked to see a few people rush some out the same day I patch.

Don’t rush it, your health and family are far more inportant. The fact that this mod exists and work is being done on it is enough for me. Besides, I got to converse with the great kinggath!

Everything that doesn't kill you makes you stronger, be graceful to your kids ;)
