Where there’s smoke quest

Doing “where there’s smoke”. I get to the encampment, talk to Aiden and then the raiders show up for a battle. I kill several and then the rest of the red markers disappear and the music keeps playing but the quest won’t update. Sits on “Track down the gunners from the radio”.
Can’t get the quest to progress from this point.

Old Paul needs to do this at the shop in Concord.

Go to the settlement he is in and use the town meeting gavel.
Open the console then the # for Old Paul.
Go to the shop in Concord and open console and type:
#.moveto player
Then the dialogue should pop up.
The problem is when you try this anywhere else the game thinks you are too far away because the dialogue position is in Concord.
oops wrong post

If you visit the other points that you did not visit it can reset Jake for the next part.

Tried on several playthroughs to do this. Each time I get to the final point, start the fight with the gunners, finish the fight, and the quest never proceeds past the "use the radio to find the gunners". Once I kill said gunners, Jake and Aiden just stand there. Might be a mod conflict.

Same problem, I have send mcgreedy back to settelment and i have checked all outstanding points of this quest, bought jake and aiden just stand there. Any idea? What is command to complete this mission and will it screw up rest of the quest line ?

Fixed it, the solid snake character got stuck between two trees, it did not look like he was but i pushed him away and then he went around them and start talking.

I've been having the exact same issue. Tried going to the locations in all three spots in different orders, that didn't work. Tried like 5 times now and can't get past that point after killing the gunners. Don't know what to do, I'm on Xbox. Anyone have any ideas that would help?

Speaking of "Where there's Smoke", I am curious on if I am missing something with the quest. I am at the point where I am having to tune in the right frequency on the radio, but no matter how much I seem to tune up or tune down, I never get any signal, nor does any dialog change. Is there something that I am missing that I am supposed to do?

You have to tune down several times I believe, but it shouldn't take more than like 5 or 6 presses of the "Tune Down" button

Pretty same with me. I fought the arriving gunners and now there's a quest marker floating in thin air. That Aiden character is gone and nothing progresses.

I've got an issue on that quest as well. When I get to the cutscene part where aiden shows up, the dialogue freezes after aiden accuses jake of being the reason the gunners are attacking people and jake is getting angry. Sometimes it gives me dialogue options but they don't do anything when i select them. i have tried disabling full dialogue. Same thing happens. I have reloaded a save during this quest about 10 times trying to get it to work. Someone said on another thread that they toggle free camera in the console to fix it and all that did was glitch my camera (tried it 3-4 times with same result). Does anyone know how to fix this? I would use console commands to skip the quest or advance stage of quest but I heard it would break it.

Third time's the charm. I managed to progress it and don't really know what I did differently, other than sending dog home beforehand. Maybe it's really as has been suggested, that the quest doesn't like companions, maybe it's some stray gunner, I missed out on in the first two tries.

It is a matter of finishing the fight with Aiden and Jake close to each other or leaving one of the three locations open to use it push Jake out of that current stuck position.

That definetely didn't work, since I already went to the third location after the fight in one of my tryouts.
Just because it did not work for you, does not mean it is a wrong solution.
Worked for me because when I got back with Jake he was then close enough to engage with Aiden for the scene.
Worked for others as well as they posted such in other topics of this issue.

I had that same problem and one thing that worked for me was just to use the"Get out of my face" mod to push Aiden closer to Jake after the battle. That way the dialogue launched as soon as they were in range of each other.

Just had this happen as well. Still trying various things. If I knew Aiden's ID I might be able to move to him to see where wandered off to.

This quest is driving me nuts. Now, being more secure in how to use the options, I went back to the beginning, in order to get rid of the mess I created in the previous playthrough. And now, same thing as before. Aiden's a no show after the fight and the quest doesn't conclude. Hopefully there's some fix for that in future updates.
