Edit: Buffout 4 comes up with a CreateTexture2d error. I have been googling this all damn day. I've tried rolling back drivers. I've tried uninstalling grass mods. I've tried borderless/windowed/fullscreen all the options. I've tried it with and without SS2 even installed.

I'm nervous posting this. I have used the search function using terms like "crash to desktop" and "crash" etc. but I can't find anything that helps.

Jake wants me to go find his cache near USAF Satellite Station Olivia. But every time I try and approach it crashes. I've tried disabling mods. My modlist is built almost exclusively off a list I found of SS2 compatible mods. I avoided the mods on the list that expanded locations because I read that those could mess up the SS2 quests, even though this guy insisted they were compatible.

This is my modlist:

Please help. I was having so much fun with this mod but I just can't progress.

I have used the autopatcher from HUD framework.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Post you Buffout 4 crash log. The clue you are looking for is in there.

What you are experiencing is most likely caused by a bad model file in a cell near Olivia that when loaded causes a CTD. The log should give a hint to which mod. I'm willing to bet SS2 has nothing to do with it. I'm not sure what all the "FO4LODGen" esps are, but I would disable the non-dlc ones. My spidey sense is tingling...

Here's the log:

E:\Repos\f4se\Buffout4\src\main.cpp(70): [info] Buffout4 v1.24.5
E:\Repos\f4se\Buffout4\src\Warnings\CreateTexture2DWarning.cpp(60): [critical] A call to ID3D11Device::CreateTexture2D failed with error code 0x80070057. This will crash the game.

/endlog

I don't really know what any of that means. I also suspect that it has nothing to do with SS2 so I feel really bad for posting here asking for help. I've tried disabling the LODGEN esps and I get the same crash in the same area. Interestingly I used to get a consistent reliable crash near the glowing sea trying to get to the Abandoned Shack when I played heavily years ago. But I actually made it there no problem this time. I'm just revisiting the game again now because of a review for SS2 that looked so damn awesome.

Anyway I'm going to try verifying integrity of game files. Which sucks cause I'm gonna have to use xedit to clean them again. Although I might just try it without cleaning and see what happens. :P

I don't know what you posted, but that does not look like a log file to me. I can't remember for sure, but I thought the log file is in .fallout 4/data/f4se/logs/ The log should have a name like Buffout4CrashLog[date].log
Which sucks cause I'm gonna have to use xedit to clean them again.
Do not clean them. They can not be cleaned on xBox so most mods will expect them to not be cleaned. Even big name mod authors have repeatedly said cleaning dlc is a myth.
