To use the Marketplace Trading via Caravan Plot, do I have to wait until Ch.3?

Title. I remember that I could use the Marketplace Trading before reaching Ch.3 during one of my previous play-throughs.

In recent play-through, I cannot, because somehow, any kind of Empire Production is recognized as 0.
Note that currently, my play-through is still at Ch.1.

I would heartily appreciate for your advice. Thanks in advance!

I don't think the trade agreements work until you've designated a capital city and I can't think of any way you're able to do that except for talking with Charlotte during Chapter 3. You can use the priority shipments though.

Thank you for your reply! Actually, that is exactly my situation. Can use priority shipment but not trade agreement.

So, it may not a be bug. Well, in one of my previous play-through I actually could use the trade agreement before reaching the Ch.3. Maybe they have changed that.

In any case, if you cannot use the trade agreement in Ch.1 and 2, I wish they disable it entirely. Right now, I can at least choose the option. Maybe I should suggest this in the other forum...

Apologies, I was mistaken when I said it needs a Level 2 plot - that's for Priority Shipments. Level 3 unlocks the marketplace.

Chapter 3 isn't required (as in, doesn't need to be on a chapter 3 quest, but does need to be installed) - simply having a Level 3 caravan should be enough.

I just tested this myself, during the chapter 1 quest 'Picking Up The Pieces' and it worked for me - so I think perhaps something else is going on here.

The numbers will be zero until you set up an agreement, and select how much incoming or outgoing scrap or supplies you want. If you run out of the cash to pay them, then it won't send you the supplies until you do. If you have lots of one type of scrap, you can decide to sell this excess off to help cover the cost for the type you do want. There is more information here.

I have a series of screenshots showing how the menus should look - if yours don't look like this, let me know. The last picture shows my large number of supplies 1 day after setting up the agreement - before this I had none, as I am playing an early quest.

Thank you, thank you!

You see, what has been wrong with my end is this "Empire Production".

It is shown as "0" for any kind of scrap, even when it obviously isn't.

So, mine must obviously be bugged. Do you know any solution for it? Thanks in advance!

Try running the holotape fix - there should be one called "recalculate virtual resources". You should remain in the settlement while it does so, it may take a moment.

Update here. Unfortunately, it did not fix my issue.

I tried "recalculate virtual resources", which was somehow finished instantly but did not do much.
I also tried "recalculate resource networks" and "recalculate costs and production". Neither of them did not help.

Now, what should I do? I would heartily appreciate for some advice...

Depending on how big your mod list is, I may be able to look at one of your saves. Also going to post this link just in case it's helpful to you.

If you have storage (resource containers), and you have industrial plots that are manned and powered, then I'm not sure what else could be going on.

In case if this can be of any help, here is a screenshot for my current situation.
As you see, any produced scrap or cap is not recognized by the system.

I have seen previous patch notes of this MOD and there are several mentioning about bugs related to this Marketplace Trading.
Maybe some bug still persists, or new one appears.

By the way, my current playthrough is based on the Storywealth + some additional MOD.

How many caps do you have in virtual storage? Try donating some via your city planner's desk. I'm wondering if perhaps you can't afford construction costs. You can turn those settings off via the holotape as well if preferred - but donating caps should help.

If you donate, say, 10,000 caps right now to the settlement - after you receive the pop up to say settlers are going to use it, does the number change at all? Or still zero?

I donated 10,000 caps. The number did not change at all, still 0.
Caps in the virtual storage was already above 3,700, so I do not think it has much to do with the situation.

Unfortunately, I think the best way to get help for this now is going to be with the Storywealth collection author - it definitely sounds like a mod conflict going on here, and since we don't know what goes on under the hood with other mods, we unfortunately can't really assist further.

Thank you for your assistance so far.

In the meantime, I still think something is definitely going sideway with the SS2 itself, because everybody other than you adviced me to wait until Ch.3. This "everybody" actually includes someone from the Storywealth Discord, by the way.

Such situation strongly implies me that many SS2 players are unable to use this Marketplace Trading function during their Ch.1 and Ch.2. Or perhaps, they simply do not know its existence, but in any case...

My best hope so far is to wait until the next update of SS2, because judging by their reaction, I do not think the Storywealth people will be much help for this matter. This function is very much specific to SS2, after all...

Anyway, once again, thank you for your help.

In case you are still watching this thread, can I ask you some question?
If so, please kindly answer the following.

Judging by your post, in your playthrough (or past playthrough), after your Caravan Service reached Lv.3,
1. You could use the Priority Shipment during Ch.1 and 2,
2. But could not use the Marketplace Trading until Ch.3
Is that correct? Also, what is (or was) your version of the game? (Mine is 3.3.1, the latest)
One more thing: I use Storywealth + some other MOD. Do you use something similar?

As I mentioned above, my situation concerning this Marketplace Trading is pretty much identical to you.
That is, "can use the Priority Shipment but not the Marketplace Trading", even with Lv.3 Caravan Service.

Meanwhile, "twolargepepperloni" mentioned that the Marketplace Trading should be usable even before reaching Ch.3.
If "twolargepepperloni" is indeed right, then our situation must be caused by a bug, presumably a common bug.

Or, script lag or something. In any case, I certainly hope that I can hear about your situation. Thanks in advance!

Hi,

same problem here. I thought something got messed up or whatever on my last playthrough a couple of weeks ago but in this exact one it still is the same.
( not in chapter 3 / shipment possible / "commit trade agreement" sends me back to the resource selction )
stories of the commonwealth + harcore resource management
