The Unofficial CH 3 Speculation Thread

Edit: imagine if said bioweapon was dropped on the HQ. featuring Depravity compatibility and making all the HQ haters happy. We'd all have to relocate to Powell's farm instead.
I can say with 100% certainty that there'll be a "HQ gets attacked" quest during Chapter 3 - why would there not be at some point? The only variables are when in the storyline it happens and the precise details of how it plays out.
There is those multiple attempts during CH1 and CH2 at hinting a certain someone may or may not be a traitor, after all...

they could even drop some bioweapon
This is the very last thing I'd expect, as plagues are the least controllable weapon ever devised. Nations only have those around as mutually assured devastation, or they're tyrannical and don't care about the consequences. I don't expect tactical nukes either, other than the very popular Fat Man.

Nor do I expect the NLTC to be funding more than one side. If they were, their first foray into the Commonwealth would most likely be as arms dealers. There were all of zero hospitals, and very few medical people, but everyone and their German Shepherd wanted weapons.

I can't imagine him betraying us like that. But those hints are there, yeah... I assume Wise refers to his unnatural cruelty that we'll see at some point (if that's the case, he's not aware of me collecting 1000's of gunner scalps for some unhinged police lady). Orr I guess betraying the minutemen, but that almost seems like the right thing to do in that situation. Or... something like that.

Maybe they already did that and we don't know about it? Though someone needs to instruct them how to make guns, those in the game are mostly dogshit. We are really low on gun manufacturers in the FO4 world now that I think about it. And everyone seems to have one, despite that. Dunno how anyone gets anything done until we unlock the production class.

Oh gawd, does that mean we have to spend all that time cleaning it up again?!?!??
I mean, it's just such an obvious plot beat, there's no way they'd skip doing that - even if just defending it from the outside (yknow, snipe from the roof, get down in amongst the enemy front lines, whatever your personal build does for combat) against waves of goons for a while.

We need to expand the build zone so we can add on that substantial cemetery. :skull

So, along comes this ambitious new General of the Minutemen, establishing more than a dozen settlements, as well as building up ranks of troops, especially after retaking The Castle. And is quickly becoming a rich arms dealer himself as he "wipes out" the competition. Direct sales? :blum

I bet this is what we see here

I made sure I was well protected with some crazy upgraded clothing and armor mods - my ballistic defense is close to 2000. Yikes. But I also play on Very Hard, adjusted all weapons to do damage appropriate to their real life performance, and could NOT get close to GNN when we assaulted it without getting killed. "Oh look, the Sole Survivor! Let's see him survive THIS!" Dang it! :swoon

So needless to say, this go 'round I'm going to make sure I keep my Plasma grenades, MIRV grenades, custom 40mm grenades, missile launcher and Fat Man handy, along with something in 7.62 NATO that has at least 100 rounds to a magazine! Call me Rambo Jr... Rambi? :grin

It’s been awhile since I’ve followed SS2 since about when chapter 2 first released. I watched the trailer for chapter 3 but it seemed like mostly a continuation of the gunner fight is there still plans to add Conquerors raider storyline into SS2? Jammer was a really cool character as was Ophelia was just wondering if any of that was still planned to be added as I’ve heard chapter 3 is going to be the final chapter.

The official answer is "Chapter 3 is adding an update of the mechanics of Conqueror, but Jammer's Story will have to stay unfinished for now". People leaving the team, voice actor availability, all that kind of thing... makes it very tough to pick a project like that back up after that long dormant.
Trust me, you're far from the only one that wants to see that gang again. I mean, can you even imagine the Shenanigans and/or Interpersonal Drama that'd ensue from Jammer's Crew joining the HQ staff?

Kinggath has said a few times that he would like to go back and port Conqueror into SS2 ("maybe one day" kind of thing) and finish that storyline because it never was completely finished, but that would be separate and different from Chapter 3.

Maybe if you knew that Sirick (the lead writer) confirmed in his QnA thread that Jake's age is 34, and Laura's age is "a vague early tweens".
...but fun idea, have a new twist to a classic Star Wars reference. "Join the Dark Side. I am your daughter."I
yes and together they could rule the Galaxy as daughter and father........... :unknw:grin

All I can say is thank goodness the Conqueror raiders aren't part of Chapter 3. I would refuse to play that. I had trouble enough getting around sucking up to super mutants to get some ASAMs. I finally just used console commands to give myself some. I've left that raider guy with cancer and a pet deathclaw he wants back standing in the garage at Coastal Cottage, waiting for me to say hello. Everyone else moved out, oddly. Not because of him, but it gives an interesting image.

Anyway, I was searching for Province Bay and came up with a few references to a WIP in 2016, of a mod named Province Bay. It's been hidden on Nexus so I can't tell where it was located. From the chatter on Reddit it seems Province Bay may have been at the mouth of the Providence River in Rhode Island. That would make sense with their landing being in the SE section of the FO4 map.

I've been concentrating on reducing my number of settlements. I'm down to 12 from 18. Some were only a couple of settlers manning a caravan stop and could never have been defended. As for defense, I'm dubious of the value of building walls and mounting heavy turret coverage. We've all seen how poorly that works against vanilla attacks. Enemies just spawn inside the walls if you lock them out too well. I did play Conqueror as a Liberator for a short while, before giving up because the mod just wasn't written with Good Guys in mind. I found the mechanics to be burdensome and confusing, at least in part because the nomenclature was ass-backwards to liberating settlements as opposed to enslaving them. Hopefully Chapter 3 will be less confusing. I also hope settlements that I spent days building to my specifications don't get overwritten with "occupied" city architecture, but I have lower expectations for that hope to be fulfilled. I keep plenty of backups, so I can always opt out of the rest of the storyline if it destroys everything I've built.

I find obvious easy ways in usually attract vanilla attacks fairly well. And as Sun Tzu said, 'Appear weak when you are strong'.
The the average raider dosen't know that the easy way is alwase mined [and, if I have anything to do with it, covered in Atom's light and artillery], so they tend to head right in to the kill box. Mind you, I can't participate in the fight because the settlers head there too and I cant afford to acedentaly kill half of them...

I dunno, I think they'd actually fit in pretty well - at least once the initial "my name's Jammer damnit Aiden" phase got through anyway. Jams had a very good mind for logistics and troop recruitment (at least once he stopped hitting the Jet so hard), Ophelia and Theresa can bond over both having the Demolition Expert perk, and introducing Maul's "simple minded wisdom" to Mansfield just screams comedy. Didn't quite have enough time to get to know what Pandora's deal actually was, though.
And hell, who doesn't want to go see THE TOILET KING again?

That quest is completely optional, I went in there the first time and killed them all (insulting their moms didn't improve relations). If you play it normally though, I find it hilarious. Not very in line with the usual and more brutal depiction of super mutants (like in Odette's quest) but the whole game is at fault for that. And there were mutant friendlies pretty much throughout the whole series. Marcus, Fawkes, Lily and Virgil to name a few.
Siding with raiders is not everyone's thing for sure but it's nice to have options for a bad guy route. I never blew up Megaton or sided with powder gangers but I appreciate that it's a possibility.

I think the most we'll get is skins changing, like in the Chapter 2 trailer. I don't think gunners have any unique random "decorations", like the raiders did, other than maybe green barricades.

Contrary to some, I find "evil routes" to be boring and predictable most of the time (I swear, if I see another raider arena...). Yes, like in 76 the raider side had more unique characters than the settlers, but I think nothing stops you from creating interesting characters on the good side.
