The Official “Ask the lead writer of SS2 anything” Thread!

Was reading through someone's mod list and saw a mod for raider chop-shop. It would be SO cool if the repopulate the commonwealth project could include raiders turning to mechanics/construction workers in downtown Boston. Wish I knew how to do all this stuff!
down town Boston is already a lag fest without mods the only way i could see it working there is if the raiders cleared out the few SM hideouts cleared the pile of rubble from the streets then maybe open a small shop at the SM hide out cause if you add a shop right from the start with out removing something it would just cause more lag

Agreed. Wishful thinking on my part.
 
So you mentioned there will be other romance options in the future. Can we know what some of those other options are or are you gonna keep us in suspense?

I'll be keeping you in suspense.
BUT! I will say, my goal is to have other NPC's to romance (if not on release, then in post patches), and Jake to give you some more love.

but what if I want Aiden watching? eye emoji I'll see myself out.

That's what "moveto player" console command is for.

Can you compare the timeline of the SS2 enents to the Fo$ ones roughly? Im curious where you see things like the arrival of the BoS, etc, falling in.

Any chance of a Mothership Zeta story arc? I noticed the note you can pick up when you first get the com hub and have wondered. :)

I was just going to ask this .

Any Zetan settlers coming? I'd love to see Franklin actually meet an Alien
 
From what I've seen so far in Chapter 2, in Chapter 3 will we have the surprise of meeting Laura and Kettelyn? Remembering that I haven't closed Chapter 2 yet....

It would be nice to see, in chapter 3, our sole survivor - the last veteran of Anchorage - treated with some honor and respect. And maybe some references to battles fought there?
 
A thought how about doing a story with Nick / Kellog? According to what I read there are unused voice files about the two of them being more intertwined and it could be a neat sub plot of the robots stuff in chapter 3 :)

Dang it! I've been working on a Nick / Kellogg mod after I came across Kinggath's Bethesda Mod School (though I hadn't heard about the unused voice files - do you have anymore info on that?). But of course I'll drop it if it's in chapter 3. Any chance of letting us know if you'll be putting this into chapter 3 @Sirick? :)

I thumbed through youtube a bit but I cant find it. I might be misremembering - I watch a lot of videos about fallout.
If you ever need a playtester let me know - your mod sounds awesome :)

As quests, I roughly see them being completed in the order of...

SS2 C1: Laying Foundations
FO4: Out of Time, When Freedom Calls
SS2 C1: Plotting the Future, If I Had a Hammer, Casting a Line, Scavver's Delight, Well Well Well!, Hub of the Problem
FO4: Jewel of the Commonwealth
SS2 C1: The Coolest Cat
FO4: Unlikely Valentine, Getting a Clue
SS2 C1: Vim and Vigor, Where There's Smoke
FO4: Reunions, Dangerous Minds
SS2 C1: Memory Lane, Who can? ASAM!, Picking Up the Pieces, The Disappearance of Jake Evans
SS2 C2: Runners and Gunners
FO4: The Glowing Sea, Hunter/Hunted, The Molecular Level, Institutionalized
SS2 C2: Rest of Chapter 2...

Perhaps that order might need some tweaking, and you may have to make an excuse now and again to ignore the vanilla story. But usually when Jake gives you a push and a "hint" to go do a particular vanilla FO4 quest, it's a good time to go do it.

I think that's a little outside of SS2's scope, but perhaps some kind of future add-on content.

First, a little more praise: Would you believe I hadn't done the path through "Who can? ASAM" where Stodge peacefully leaves and Theresa busts out the leadership skills until now? (Her calling you "fancy pants" takes on new meaning with a bit more context of a line she says in that sub-sequence, it feels more like "insult turned into term of endearment" this way - I'm still always picking Hubert tho)

So, my actual question for this visit: I've made something of a sub-game out of finding all the "Perk Checks" in the dialog. I've found quite a lot, but I've still never found a few: those being all the 'weapon skills' (Gunslinger, Rifleman, etc), and I've also never found one for "Ricochet" (the Luck 10 perk). Can I get a clue?

Is there a specific time before/after which you need to get the Institute Ending to get this dialogue?

After talking it over with Sirick, I decided to join in on the fun! As Sirick noted in his rules:
  1. I can only answer questions related to the main quest. Any settlers that join outside the main quest, I can’t answer anything about as I didn’t write those.
That's where I'd like to jump in. Back in 2017 I wrote the dialogue and quests for a bunch of them. They finally came to life with the release of SS2.
This is a tiny contribution compared to Sirick's work, but still, if anyone has questions regarding the listed (below) unique settlers, please feel free to ask!

Is there a specific time before/after which you need to get the Institute Ending to get this dialogue?
Not sure, I have only tried it after completing chapter 2. I guess you can get it whenever you want, but a line can get altered by a choice the player can make:
If the player flirts with Jake at the end of "End of the Beginning", he will ask "What should I call you now? Slick/Darlin'? Director? ...Daddy/Mommy?"
