I'm in the process of being extremely OCD right now. Gotta admit that most of the stuff has been vanilla assets, this "looking good" is a few bits from SS. (Support pillars FTW!)

...I haven't really started spamming the machine guns as yet. <_<

Ya know what I really like about this?
Well placed stairs, guides the NPC's along the path..cause they need all the guidance they can get!
But best of all... that glorious non quest breaking hole in the wall! Ronnie's super sized ego will have no problem fitting right through it! :)

This IS the Minutemen's main fortress. ;)
It may be, but by level 3, if it doesn't make enough money to pay for all the turrets, it's not going to be a fun city plan. Caps are not shared via supply lines. Keep an eye on the upkeep indicator and work it towards breaking even.

Is that the little caps bar in the HUD? I don't play with upkeep on, so I'm not certain.

Admittedly at present everything is L1 - no L2/3 agriculture plots or commercial plots.
 
With some help from @Yagisan (especially being pointed at the BS Defense mod) I am in the process of working it down to sane levels of machine gun turrets.

Thank goodness for someone sorting out the way attacks work!

Loving your build. I see what is woodfuzzy saying about the stairs. I think that little tips like that, that folk can see really enhances the experience. I also am a huge fan of the combo build with the plots integrated into your own creative interpretation of the location.

I hope more folks see your post and are encouraged to post similar.

"I think, otherwise" and it is a lot of fun finding that flash of wonder that is always there in the works of others" often the best insights are in the middle of all that, ha - whatever all that is. hahaha "no one is so smart that they are going to wrong all the time" even they can contribute :friends

Also keep in mind, the Defend the Castle attacks (unless you change them (very bad)) spawn from 2 points , and target 2 sides of the Castle. So protecting the backside of the Castle is pointless. Well other than looks.
Even the teleporting synths don't bother the backside. LOL
And yes BS Defense is da BOMB!
 
@RayBo my character is already a death-machine. ;) Hehehehehehhh...should I go for that 10th point in Perception and then Concentrated Fire, or should I increase his Intelligence and roleplay that after the physical damage and mental trauma of being frozen, thawed, seeing his wife shot and son stolen in front of him, and frozen and thawed again, he's starting to heal mentally...hehehehehehhh...

@woodfuzzy I will put some stuff inside and at least a minimal amount out on the points of the star. Especially covering the two entrances. It's good to know that BS Defense fixes the silliness I was having - I can now go and reduce the amount of firepower at all my settlements, to sane levels.

And I added BS Defense to the "What are your essential mods" list, looks like it was missed in the round-up. ;)

Back on topic:

I'm actually quite impressed with the basic building stuff now. Adding Place Everywhere and just a very few SS assets and simple techniques has improved the look of things tenfold. It makes me think that I can actually be semi-creative.

I will have to showcase my tiny 1/10th size "concrete bricks" in the secondary entrance wall that you liked. Later tonight - before I go and remove MG Turrets from all my other settlements, then start my slaughterhouse spree across the wastelands again.
