Stutter/audio delay

I'm experiencing hiccups/stutters/audio lags. It began today. I don't think the issue is w/ SS cuz the issue persist even with it out of load order (also no save file bloating). What methods are there to identify the issue?

So I've narrowed it down to the combination of SS w/ Scrap Everything. Both mods work fine individually, but when loaded together, cause a host of issue ranging from hiccups and audio stutters to pipboy not opening, weapons not being drawn etc. It's strange because I've used them together up until yesterday, and haven't changed my load order either. The problem started after I assigned a leader to Murkwater Construction Site.

Yeah I can confirm this. I started sanctuary then went to red rocket and started a settlement there. I am getting the frame rate stutter. Occasional audio stutter. I feel like it might be scrap everything as well. Though the stutter isn't bad in the settlement its still enough to make a little annoyed.

scrap mods are more trouble than they're worth. what happens if you start your game with the scrap mods disabled?

I'm going to restart the game all over again, Without it installed. Maybe I deleted something unintentionally. But No matter what I disable it seems to stutter when moving. The audio wasn't as bad after disabling scrap everything. I'm still battling this issues with 30fps cap. I read that I need to put it in windowed mode. Nothing I have done so far has made a difference in the floating lettering and conduits. I'm going to keep trying stuff.

Scrap Everything is sadly the issue. If you are like me and HATE, no no let me make that clearer F^%$#*& HATE brambles and bushes and all that little ground clutter in your perfect settlement then maybe it would be worth it to run it in your load order. However I will say that you will start to run into some pretty annoying issues as time goes on.
I installed HD IVY thank god for that now I just need something for those unsightly brambles.

As for disabling scrap everything I do still get the floating letters glitch and the floating conduits. However that is a very small price to pay for stability. I like the feeling of my settlements being alive. I do hope that the floating Conduits can be fixed. I am not sure the cause. I did a clean install of the game reinstalled f4se, then Enb series, then Beautification project and true storms. I did not install true shadows. Then I reinstalled Sim Settlements and played from there I got the floating conduit issue.
I then reloaded all my mods 4 at a time and kept testing the game. When I got to scrap everything that is when the stutters started they were slight but there were noticeable.

I loaded in my old save of over 100 hours and with it enabled the stutters were annoying. When disabled it was much better. However something I deleted must still be causing an issue in that save since I still get noticeable stutters from time to time. Not quite as annoying but still can make or break it for some people.

I managed to rescue my save AND keep Scrap Everything by doing the following:
1. Uninstall Scrap Everything
2. Uninstall FO4
3. Reinstall FO4
4. Load you save and check to see if the stutter is gone. This was the case for me. The side effect is that all of the stuff you have scrapped comes back.
5. Save your game.
6. Re-install Scrap Everything. At this point, there is no stutter. Also, all of the stuff that came back got scrapped again (weird).
7. Profit.

I've never encountered floating conduits. I did encounter floating name tags but that is only in sanctuary and VERY minor.

Yeah I'm still having a floating conduit problem. I got the stutter fixed but I will lean away from scrap everything. I however didn't do anything to the surrounding area this time before the settlement built so I just have one conduit piece floating. Its only in sanctuary. Right now I seem to be having an issue with beacon not being powered. I used fallrim tools and checking active scripts they are under 20.
Birdsandcrittersscript
Homakerscript

I am glad that you got this fixed because a lot of people cant stand a dirty settlement. I am of the same mindset. But I am trying to deal with my OCD. HD IVY makes a big difference.

Over the weekend I too started having major stutter/fps drop/audio lags, and I don't use Scrap Everything. It began after installing the latest update to SS but I am reluctant to, at least solely, attribute that to the reason.
Other mods I added, or updated, might be factors;
Shadows for Sim Settlements v1.1.0
Attackers - Get Off My Buildzone 1.1.4
More Attackers - Get Off My Buildzone 1.1.0

I also recently updated my Nvidia graphics drivers, so there's a potential that's at least potentially a suspect. I tried lowering my graphics a smidge, but it persists. So, I'm not entirely sure what's going on.

i dont think you need both of the attacker/buildzone mods. i think one replaced the other. plus it will spawn a ton of additional npc's and give you more frequent attacks on your settlements which will tax your system.
shadows for sim settlements will also tax your system.
nvidia driver update and sim settlements appear to be the least of your worries.

You know what? You're right, and I actually knew that but somehow - in my mod updating haze over the weekend - I installed them both. Doh! I have been meaning to delete the former now that I have the latter, but hadn't yet, and wasn't paying attention. My bad there.

Makes sense, and I considered that as a culprit, but will have to do some testing.

Thanks for pointing all that out. :agree:

Hmm was thinking it could have been Whirligig Sentry. The beta is out now too but I honestly think it was scrap everything. Truly believe it Because the new update to Whirligig Sentry which is BETA in the tagline on the downloads page is running smooth and when I fired tried it I had issues but not stuttering that I noticed. I did have it running before when I had the frame rate issue. If you have this installed and think it might be this then go update it.
