Only "Random" showing in residential plot build menu.

This has happened in the second settlement so far. It first showed up at Abernathy Farm and now at Murkwater. After laying out and choosing the building plan for the first few residential plots I now only get "**Random" showing up in the build list. Any ideas as to why?

It could be a bit of delay is you are just going from one plot to another back to back. How many add on packs do you have installed?

I have 4 packs installed but I am used to the delay and this is not it. As I said I can choose the first 2 or 3 plots manually, then it will revert to only showing **Random regardless of how long I wait.

I have the same problem. Only * random * for residential plot types, which is really killing a couple of my smaller settlements where I need to build multi-housing. The only option that works is to shitcan all the residential plots and just put in beds. I have tried resetting plots, I've tried to enable cheat - make all plot type available. Nothing seems to work.

There is a work around. Its a pain in the ass but has worked for me. I use the 3x3 plot then just keep choosing random until I get the plot I want. A bit more time consuming if you choose 2x2 but if you have the patience I suppose it would work there as well. I don't hence the 3X3 with fewer building to rotate through.

I'm having the exact same issue and it seems to be getting worse. I never experienced it before the 1.0.5 update and now it's effecting about half of my settlements.
There doesn't seem to be a connection between the amount of plots / scripts and the bug, as I have about 40+ SS2 plots running in Vault 88 with no issues.

Has anyone figured out what's triggering this or has the OP reported the bug?

I'm having the same issue. Every once in a while it'll let me change a residential building plan, but for the most part unless I try my luck at spamming the random selection I'm stuck with whatever the system plunks down. Doesn't matter if it's a build plan settlement or one I'm building up on my own.

It seems that once your game session got hit by this bug, that game and the saves are crippled. nothing can be done unless you start over. Devs, please proof me wrong.

Has anyone run a conflict filter on your load order in xEdit? (Fallout 4 edit) I have played 8 games through the SS2 versions and not encountered this issue. Its a longshot, but there might be a mod out there that conflicts with the building plan list.

I can honestly say I have not, and looking through the entry in Nexus I'm not certain I have the technical savvy to do so properly.

Yes I have. No conflicts. This bug creeps in gradually. It first started with only the residential then slowly progressed to the other building plan lists. I have currently started a new playthrough with only Sanctuary as a settlement and mission progress up to "It came from planet X". All seems well up to now. I will keep monitoring and report my findings as I progress

This was easy to do in previous versions of xEdit. Load, right-click and select apply conflict filter. The latest version... I have to look at the xEdit page... I can never remember what the options are for... There are you tube videos that show how to do this. It is good to be able to do it. It is very helpful in finding mods that don't play nice together.
