I have been unable to find the book you need to build the beacon, i read somewhere that it's supposed to be on the sanctuary workshop but mine isn't there.

Hi everyone!

I have tried to install SS2 but I can't manage to get the storyline started.
From my understanding, you need a magazine to start it, and then "The Stranger" will appear.
I did not manage to find the magazine. I googled all that and it seems it should be in Sanctuary, on the red workshop/workbench.
I am playing with Fallout4 - Game of the Year edition from Steam. It has several DLCs included in it.
Please find attached a savegame, zipped.

Here are my mods:

It works! I'll explain in case somebody else is facing the issue.
I used to use Nexus mod manager and it doesn't seem that SS2 is properly installed.
Then I switched to Vortex. I am completely new to Vortex, little did I know you need to deploy your mods!
For this, I had to go to the plugins tab (none of the mods' plugins were installed) and click "deploy".
I am not sure how you deploy your mods in Vortex usually, but this worked for me.

I DID NOT had to get the magazine. When I loaded my save the SS2 additional options were available in the construction/workshop mod and soon after the "Stranger" showed up.
Please mark this thread as resolved.
Cheers!

I would verify that you have Workshop Framework (the latest version always) installed and that all of SS2 file got installed. You'll need to verify that all the files in the image below are in your Data directory. If you're using a very outdated version of NMM it has lots of problems installing all the files. But also installing very large mods from nexus often fail to install all required files.

That's not the important folder, the really important folder is Data and whether it has:
SS2 - Main.ba2
SS2 - Textures.ba2
SS2.esm

Also make sure you have the latest Workshop Framework installed.

this seems to be there, and iv found ss items and characters i just cant find the magazine to get plots or sensors so im really quite stuck

So I don't have this magazine which is clearly supposed to give me the menu for sim settlements. I met the stranger but there is no menu category for SS, I'm guessing this is because I don't have the book. The problem is I scrapped all of sanctuary to start fresh there, heh..........

when you said you scrapped all of sanctuary - did you use the 'scrapall' command? if you did, don't because you've wrecked your game straight out of the gate.
go back to the save made before you leave the vault, run down to sanctuary go to the workbench, pick up the magazine. done.

no just go back to your save, no need to uninstall/reinstall. may as well format your hard disk, reinstall windows and all your games if you're going to do that.
just go back to your last save, or start a new game.
