Question Items Not Appearing

I originally got this mod through Bethesda and had no issue, however now that I am using Vortex it seems that some buildings are just not rendering or at least, rendering fully. I have tried looking for incompatibilities and I uninstalled it and reinstalled it but that doesn't seem to work either. Any suggestions anyone?

I ran into this issue too, it might be your load order. The problem with Vortex is that it doesn't allow manual sorting of mods and uses the LOOT API to autosort everything. And LOOT, while useful, isn't always right. You might need to switch to Nexus Mod Manager or Mod Organizer 2.

Other stuff to try:
  • Reinstall the mods. sometimes stuff just gets borked.
  • Did you remember to add this to your fallout4custom.ini?
    • [Archive]
      bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
      sResourceDataDirsFinal=
  • Make sure to read through your mods' descriptions and grab any required compatibility patches. this one tripped me up!
I hope you get it fixed :)

How do I add that to the fallout4custom.ini? Would I have to go to the game files?

Open up your fallout4custom.ini with notepad, and copy/paste the three lines into it. Save and close. It's probably somewhere like C:\\Users\yourusername\Documents\My Games\Fallout 4

I just tried it and no change. Thanks for the help though. Also, I thought Vortex was the nexus mod manager. I suppose I was wrong on that. I will look again for any patches and worse comes to worse I'll have to get it through bethesda where it worked previously. Thanks again!

Vortex is the new mod manager but you can't manually sort your load order which is obnoxious af. A lot of modders view it as being the least useful option and recommend people using the most recent version of NMM, which is a different program from Vortex, or Mod Organizer 2, which has a bit of a learning curve but easy once you understand wtf you're looking at.

It looks like you are on pc. :bye

Make sure you are using the 3-in-1.

There have been several reports like this and they were missing Industrial Revolution.

I recommend all of Gopher’s videos.
There are 6 of them. The intro below and 1 through 5.

I am an advocate of a real mod manager if on pc over Beth.net

That said, Vortex is new and different and even a little confusing if someone is used to older mod managers.

It is true that Vortex uses loot. It is not true that you cannot manually sort. It is just different. Loot did this also through the use of metadata configuration. Vortex expands on this through rules and groups. There is also a more advanced option I will leave out.

Vortex shines in its “mod tab” interface with how it presents overwrites to the user. This is really important in how mods work in games like FO4.

All in all, if someone has a day or two of patience I recommend hitting the gopher videos and encourage set-up procedures as in:

Your game will thank you for it a month from now.

Lastly, as a general framework:

This may also help, particularly later or if you plan on running more mods or complex games:

My goal is you have a good experience. Regardless of the mods or mod organizer you use.
In the tools above you have the groundwork of a community of contributors to help you. :rollseye
