'Internal' / wall-less plots

I'm not sure if any of the Sim Settlement features can be applied to single objects as opposed to plots-only, but if so, then going off of @DropkickCleary's idea above, maybe certain objects like a painting, or a pool table, or a Nuka-Cola machine, could be added in order to add small amounts of happiness to the settlement. Granted most of them would be relatively static (as far as not being able to upgrade), but it's another option for balancing things if someone wanted to use the smaller, lower-yield residential plots (if available).

Sim Settlements uses the default happiness system, it's just that we add a happiness bonus to some plots the same way the Clinic shop adds happiness.

You could easily make items that add settlement happiness and they wouldn't need to be part of SS at all.

lol. I'll chalk it up to one part "I like overcomplicating things" and one part "I didn't realize it used the same system." Thanks for clearing it up!

Given that there's a fixed number of pre-built houses, it might be worthwhile to see if this could be combined with the various rebuild-x mods? ie. stick a sensor to an existing building (or room?) in the settlement, designate that something should be done with it, and have the building upgraded (and repaired) as the tiers increase.

This is probably the single most requested plot style for Sim Settlements.

The truth is, there must be a good reason why it's not been implemented otherwise I'm positive Kinggath would have done so by now.

Power is easily handled, simply limit what appears to radiant power only. It's just a 1x1 plot like the martial plot with no structure except a bed and freestanding clutter.

I love it and I too have already made this very suggestion earlier.. It would greatly increase the utility of sim settlements in my opinion :)

The other side of the coin is that this would take away a lot of the fun out of sim settlements because while the settlers would still be able to slap down their own clutter, there wouldn't be any random "settler's choice" in terms of plots built. I'd like the option of doing this only in very specific and limited circumstances because I love the design choices for every single one of the plots. The only thing I'd add to the existing system is linking clutter between home and work space so even more stories can be told.

Alternatively a giant mod should enable all buildings to be permanently (gone and no respawn) scrapable without gfx glitches except the ones that have interiors required for quests

Not that i know anything but just sticking a sensor on a building would probably not work as what would upgrade? unless Kingath mapped every building in the game and that is not feasable, the guy is busy as hell as is ,so i cant see it working.

I want this too! All of the ideas here are awesome, and cover everything my heart desires, so all I have to add is YES PLEASE!

maybe like this
just very basic though
empty plot except for bed ,maybe store marker for commercial
add your own clutter
internal 1.png
internal 2.png

o the cabin is from sunshine co op settlement
I'm just showing what it wud look like with a empty plot
the plot and bed is easy to do ,possible to use it in multiple types of buildings :)
but I think people want more than just a bed
if more people want it I guess I or someone else can do it

There's nothing stopping us from making smaller plots, is there? Like, keeping the helper's entry point where it is, and cutting it down to a smaller size, would let us go ahead and spawn in furniture and whatnot normally, wouldn't it? If the bed that gets placed is sheltered, the game doesn't care how the bed got there, it'll count as an "interior" bed.

I haven't even finished my first addon but I was thinking of making barracks-style bedding in a small 1x1 or so plot; got the idea the last time I was at the castle. There's that big empty room where a few beds already are, and yeah it's an annoying shape, but it would be amazing to lay down a grid of bed-plots and watch them become personalized. Random clutter could be used to vary things like open/closed footlocker, maybe room for a small side table to have random things appear on, etc.

Edit: duh, of course the giant 2x2 foundation piece that's actually placed would need to also be remade as a 1x1 or whatever. Could we do this entirely in the CK, or would we need to be editing models? For "barracks" style plots it might need to be smaller than 1x1, but the same idea could be applied to any sort of interior design.

To maintain functionality, the smaller plot would need to be in the main SS mod. Which means it needs to be created by Kinggath. Otherwise you have the problems like the mod adding VIS tags to SS. It breaks the mod every time a mod it touches updates.

I was afraid of that. It'd need to be in the base .esm? Would there be any way to script something to inject new plots into the list of SS base choices? That would be generally upgrade-proof, I think, but I don't even know if injection is an applicable concept in this case.

I just realized I don't have any idea what the plots *are* to the game - what it thinks you're placing, what class or category of object the workshop system thinks it is, what its relationships are to other objects. This perhaps makes it hard to know what its possibilities and limitations are >.>
