Bug I *think* the toy factory crashes my game

So I have had this weird issue in two settlements, where the game will sometimes crash after a certain time after arrival. It happens rarely, and waiting for a while in another location seems to prevent the crash from happening, and the only thing the two have in common which no other settlement has is the toy factory.

After the crash, I see errors like this in the log:

I've read that this is probably harmless, but it's the dead last entry in the log.

I have a save where I can reliably reproduce it, and I also backupped the log, if that helps.
 
So, while those errors posted won't cause crashing (those are vanilla errors, so I should say they won't cause crashing any more then a normal contraption dlc builder will), it could be the toy factory.

Could you send over that save you have with some basic directions to reproduce the error and I'll see if I can find anything?
 
Well, it's rather awkward, but I lost the save I wanted to send you. However, I found another one, from the first time I had the crash. I tried doctoring around on that one with FallrimTools, however. It didn't help, though, so it still happens.
It's uploading right now, I'll send you a PM when it's done.
Reproduction is rather easy. Load it, and it should crash within 5 seconds or so.

We might have more going on here, but the toy factory could certainly be a factor. I've made a few tweaks to the script that auto-deletes toys for the next version (0.8.0) that I hope will make things a bit more stable.

However, the save doesn't crash right away for me, so we might have some other factor contributing as well.

Test out the 0.8.0 changes for me, and let me know if you notice any improvement.
 
Mh. Maybe it is some other mod's fault after all.
But thank you for looking into this. I'll upgrade to 0.8.0 and see if that save starts working for me

I have a second savegame now, if the first one still doesn't work for some reason.

I'll confirm what version of the unofficial patch I'm using. Are you still getting nearly instant crashes from the save you shared to me?

Yes, I do. Oh, you have an UFO4P as well? Mh. Maybe it is some old stuff remaining in my save?
On the other hand, disabling either your mod or UFO4P and then loading the game seems to help.

I did notice several thousand instances of the toys in your save file, that's what prompted me to change the way they were handled. Maybe I'll clean those out for you and see if that makes a difference

Sure, first: back up your save obviously.
second: under script instances, delete all of the instances of the autodeleteitem script.
third: save and give it a shot!
 
Sorry for the delay, it's been a long few days at work ramping up for the start of school.

One more thing to try, since crashing is very rarely caused by papyrus, can you enable the high-def performance setting to lower poly count? the toy factory isn't my highest poly model, but the settlement it was in was pretty dense when I was in your save, so it might be worth a try. (I say this in part because it didn't crash immediately for me, and I use an optimized textures pack)

So I am also using 2.0.1a for the UFO4P and I went through them both to see if there was some kind of conflict or if UFO4P was editing the Contraption builder (which, surprisingly it is not. I say surprisingly because of how buggy they are, but that's another topic).

I was planning to take a short development break and play FO4 for a few days so I could try and pin down bugs and weirdnesses and just areas where things need to be improved in general, so I'll see if I can pin anything down with this bug as well (I'll be running the game with full debug mode on, so hopefully I'll spot something in the script logs).

It didn't fix the savegame I sent you, but it seems to have prevented a crash in another save.
Probably it is a performance issue, and I just shouldn't do that much SimSett stuff in one place.
 
Have you built any vanilla workshop items in the settlements that crash upon arrival?
 
Also how many settlers are assigned to the settlements that cause a crash when fast traveled to?

I don't fast travel there. However, it did happen after teleporting there. But it still happened after saving and loading.

It's about 25 settlers in Abernathy Farm, where I first encountered the crash, and 35 in Sanctuary Hills, where it sometimes happens as well.
