How do I earn "Engineering Energy"?

In the quest "How to HQ" I'm on the objective of upgrading the front security system. I seem to be 4 short of this "Engineering Energy" thing. Where do I get more/what do I need to build to generate more?

Assign more people to the Engineering department.

You might need other Engineering rooms so you can have more than 2 people working in Engineering though, depends on the stats of the people you have working for you. Metal detectors upgrade might have to wait. :)

The game only told me to move Jake, who else should I move?
I believe engineering energy is the total of their combined perception. When you assign staff to different areas it shows you the relevant stats. END for logistics, STR for facilities, CHA for admin. Jake has 8 PER (I think), I sent alan walsh to be his house wench cuz he's also got a high PER, how I've got 16 engineering energy i think, which is still 44 less than you need to build the computer network :( Get your facilities crew well established first though, most of the early workload is on them, plus you'll need living quarters. I have 29 facility energy and its not close to enough. MALA has 15 STR so you'll already have a good foundation. Mama Murphy has 19 STR but i don't know if she can be sent to HQ or not. If companions can be sent, Strong has a 24.

So in short, you'll start with a few people but you'll need to send numerous settlers to round them out. I've been sending people from places that have had stat training plots for a long time.

Sorry for rambling, I got carried away.
 
Same question but facilities energy I’m in the hq quest and only have 50/60 so I’m 10 short to build the living quarters if somebody knows how to get more energy thanks.

You need 10 more STR in facilities, move enough personnel there for that, and within 24 hours you should have enough, if not instantly.

Open the “build” menu, go to facilities, press up until you get to assign personnel or whatever it’s called. Or you can use the blueprints in Cedric’s office. I’m still on how to HQ too, can’t get the living quarters built because for some reason my scrap never replenishes. Just gotta play with it til you figure it out. Unless someone has made a YouTube guide already

Thanks I gave up last night and called it a day will try again later today , the tutorial should be no resources needed I think to make it easier to start and figure out.

How do you send people to the HQ?
 
If it's all too frustrating at the beginning, just use the free build mode from the Workshop Plus mod. Free energy. Easiest way to get through the somewhat bugged tutorial HQ quest. Seems if you don't follow the prompts exactly and build exactly what you're told, you end up with less energy than you need to complete some portions of it.
 
Im having a similar problem. I have 59/60. I found another thread where they mentioned reassigning everyone and Ive tried that 3 times. I also saved and tried reloading. I tried leaving and coming back. I cant progress. I think its illness. Everyone is always sick and they never seem to get better even when I trade them disease cures. At least one person at HQ is sick and 2 or 3 of the randos are missing and I suspect theyre laying on the ground somewhere. Is the disease system standard now or only for survival. Im playing survival but thought turning that off might be another way of getting around this issue.
 
The Disease System is separate from Survival mode, and appears to be On by default regardless of your difficulty settings. (when SS2 first starts it picks some of its own difficulty options based on what the base game's is set to at that moment)
 
Which are the best settlers to send? And if I send them, will the resource they're assigned go idle?
Use the vit-o-matic and use people with the stats for the department you need. And yes their job will go unoccupied until you reassign it or another settler comes.

I've set up Starlight with all the training plots and now I'm just beefing up settlers to send to HQ in the future, once it will actually let me build some bedrooms. You really only need about 6 settler to run a self sustaining settlement (1 food, 1 comm, 1 caravan, 1 power, 2 guards, 1 water if you can't build purifiers.) That's room for 10-12 idles settlers to train and get conscripted to the New-Enclave Regime New Commonwealth People's Government Semi-Clean Official HQ Building.

Once the Scrap Logistics mechanic is fixed that is.

Assign m.a.l.a as leader in Mansfield’s room this game me enough energy to complete the task the rest of the people are workers
