Fallout 76

Another thing about fallout 76 that doesn't make sense?
I came across this workshop and a really nice bunch of loghouse cabins in a nice spot. I got excited, thinking I'd be able to create something really awesome here. all I had to do was clean up the rubble and stuff, and I'd have a really, really nice place here.
only to find out that I can't scrap any of the rubble or the chairs and sofas. even though I claimed the workshop.

I'm staring at this really nice looking fireplace that I can't clear free of rubble.... and wondering what the heck is the point of workshops in fallout if I can't even clean up anything!

What the heck, Bethesda?
That is a nice fireplace. :acute

I finally did it!
Killed a Scorched Beast... alone. Only took a Gatling laser, 4 fusion cores and 1 stimpak to get it to land, then I melee the noisy bird into the dirt.
Woodfuzzy 1
Scorched Beast 6 (yeah.. that'll bloody change!)

Yeah @Aurora Moon there are a crap ton of places I'd LOVE to build at. Some of the cabins are really nice even pretty clean. I'd really like to build in one of the towers.. forget the name.. was the owner of the coal mines.

that's freakin' amazing. I ran into a scorched beast too but couldn't beat it at my current level.

The worst thing? It was literally on top of the respawn spot, so every time I re spawned, I would automatically get hit by that beast. I had to leave the game just to stop the endless process of re-spawning and dying.

Ahh, Fallout 76. A game I both love and hate. XD

I've only killed the Beast of Grifton, or whatever he's called. (I call him Mr Squishy, cos he makes squshy noises).

4 grenades, 10 throwing knives and 250 rounds of 10mm

:rtfm My review of the FO4 Reviews:

Quote:
"When you remove the stuff people were willing to overlook the faults for, there is no reason to overlook the faults."

:pardon Sure, I am a hypocrite. I bought it, I play it, and I am enjoying feeding my fundamental addiction to all things Fallout. :wacko

:neaStill, this is raw, unprocessed and of a lesser quality than I would have expected after years of opportunity to refine the FO4 experience that was present 3+ years ago. One would have expected them to have at least improved the fundamentals of gameplay. This is a step backward, all for multiplayer support and an Autumn mod. Sure, I enjoy it as any addict would but I can't help but feel the rest of the community is not as forgiving as I. :slow

:cool I see the fallout experience through rose-colored glasses. :threaten Should I remove them, I might be inclined to believe this is nothing more than a cash grab. What I do believe is they will never again give their product to a company like Obsidian only to watch the passion of the "B-team" whip the c_ap out of the "A-team" with there own product. :vava

:yessStill, I am going to look forward to seeing how they recover and if they will in some way try to make it right or proceed down another more corporate path. I am not a hater, I always want to be as nice and positive as I can be. :punish

But, as I have always said: "don't piss-off the nice one." hahahaha :rofl

On a positive note: I think I am more disappointed than "pissed-off" but I refuse to be dishonest with myself. I think that is why I think, " When you remove the stuff people were willing to overlook the faults for, there is no reason to overlook the faults." Is such a good observation in regard to the fallout 76 blowback. I see it more as pent-up honesty in the fan base and this is only, "the straw that broke the camels back / who's time has come."
:ty2

I watched a review last night, about FO76. The reviewer went in there quite positively - in the end he was extremely “scathing” about the technical shortcomings. Especially how it ran so badly on his high-end gaming rig.

His opinion was that it should have been much better, for one of the biggest professional game-publishing houses out there. :/

(Note that I don’t play it, so I’m trying to be not-too-negative in my views about it.)

Fallout 76 has a lot of good stuff in it. It's fun exploring a new place, and the scenery is just too pretty for words. I like the fact that we can pose our characters for photos, etc. And my boyfriend is really digging all the new music. I like the fact that they added in stuff that we normally had to mod for in fallout 4, so that we didn't need to install mods for those certain things.

But yeah, It's sometimes hard to focus solely on all the positives when the flaws sticks out like a sore thumb and keeps on jumping into your field of view like a irritating eye mote. I think that's what those floating things are called? Eye floaters? heh, whatever.

After reading a whole lot of reviews and seeing a couple YT vids, I think I'm gonna pass on this one for now. Seems that there's too much frustration in doing simple things in the game. Plus, I don't like the idea of spending 60 bucks on the thing and then finding out it's a " WTF am I supposed to do now?" -fest.

It's just come out cheap on Humble Bundle, 33% off.

Gonna ruffle a few feathers this early in the game...

I think Koubitz has said so well, not a hater but a lover of all things fallout......

This is only one of the videos I watched in reference to my post above. Pretty much the same things I said. That being said, I wonder if the corporate greed will allow Beth to toss the early buyers some free DLC? Seems like the right thing to do In my mind.

It's really a shame that Bethesda insisted on going down this route: announce a new game in a beloved franchise and make almost nothing but decisions that alienate most of the fan base, only to have it be m-eh. There are people who are loving it, but many more who are disappointed or downright disgusted. Hubris? Maybe. How it will affect their next major productions is my main concern.

Just my .02 cents and if you enjoy 76 then I’m glad you do. But for me, it’s the last Bethesda steaming pile of garbage at launch I can take. If in a few years 76 becomes reasonably good, it will be (yet again) due to the sweat and free labor of modders like KG saving Bethesda’s bacon.

I’m pretty much done with Bethesda as a studio - just going to assume the next space title and ES6 will be same garbage and ignore them. It’s not that 76 is all bad, it’s just the final straw for me in a long, slow history of Bethesda releasing barely alpha state games as AAA fodder.

Looking back, I realize even my favorite game of all time, Skyrim, was garbage until modders saved it. It’s not even the money, even if 76 was on $5 sale I wouldn’t bother wasting my time till Bethesda figures out and fixes what game they want this to be - coop loot game ala borderlands 2, multiplayer pvp, open world survival, whatever.

@Jacozilla I've been thinking about the idea of "wouldn't bother wasting my time..." a lot lately. With all of the free or incredibly cheap entertainment options out there, it's increasingly making me aware of how I spend my time (actually becoming a Dad is probably also doing that... time is very clearly passing when you are helping a tiny human grow... I digress).

Game companies need to spend more time on polishing up their products or people are going to go elsewhere. We've only got so much time to game, so people are going to be less and less likely to "stick with it" on good will alone.

I'm still not quite there with you on abandoning Bethesda, but I'm definitely not going to white-knight here - you hit your limit, so I applaud your decision to say "enough's enough".

The thing that pisses me off, is finding bugs that are from the early days of F04. Remember the video of Nick walking while laying down? Had an entire location doing that, but even worse. They didn't stay above ground but stayed on the plane they spawned on.
NPC's spawning inside walls, shooting through walls, supply drops inside inaccessible buildings (that whole system is broke as hell), perks not applying/removing as expected, and a plethora of other code related issues.
It's almost like the code was never tested by anyone but the code monkeys.... once.
And for God's sake.. when will they learn you can't use code to generate random ground spawn/marker points. It just doesn't work. Randomly picking manually placed markers is the only reliable method.
And why can't the scorched hold a gun correctly? It's not like they had to recreate the animation from scratch.

There is a crap load of "oh that's to small of a bug to fix right now" stuff that should have been addressed looong ago. It's all those "little" bugs that end up making for an over all ugly product. And what many or I should say most, don't realize or even care about is, if you pay attention to the details you end up with a superior product that will make the consumer happier and thus selling even more.
Pride in craftsmanship has been lost to corporate greed.
Which ironically, cuts into profits. LOL
