As the title says, however, fast travelling causes no issues. But if I walk out of the settlement and try to walk back, CTD. It started to happens on a old save after the last patch. Those settlements are not huge, around 10 settlers. Can't find any common factors, So I'm at lost. LO attached.

After some investigating, I found that disabling AI (tai) actually lets me inside the affected area and I can move to the settlement. But then trying to save, load, toggle AI back crashes the game. I tried to disable the building plan with destruction of everything already built in the settlement and disable all of the Settlers in it to completely clean it up, then returning away from the affected area. Toggling AI back on didn't crash the game, but saving sure did.
I'm not sure this mod is to blame now at all. Now I don't even know where to go with such an issue.

Also moving far enough from the affected territory after being there crashes the game. This is awful.

I've had this problem throughout the life of SS2 and also SS1. I've concluded that it happens if I advance towards a settlement too quickly, the game can't update the LOD (Level Of Detail) quickly enough and either the settlment appears to missing most of the plots or it does a CTD. When it happens, I reload, then I walk towards the settlement a short distance, pause a moment, walk a short ways, pause etc. At certain pauses I can see buildings appearing and I wait until it finishes. This way I'm able to walk in without it crashing.
I’ve had this as well in a few settlements where if you pass by them to close you can crash the game but if you move slow enough for it to load in it was fine.

Only thing I see that I’ve heard issue with is BLD that can cause crashing and start me up that can mess up the starting of ss2 depending on the options used. What does the complex vendors mod do ? I’ll have to look that up but honestly besides the two I don’t see anything that I know would be an issue.

Yeah I never put that kinda time into this game or get attached to a save. With Bethesda games you gotta learn to restart a game sometimes. Matter of fact it’s what I’m doing with Skyrim this weekend deleted a 3 day long game and gutted a 405 mod list to redo a bunch of stuff , just to try a few new mods. Should be a fun couple days.

5500hrs is impressive , I have 1500hrs in Fo4 and around 2000hrs in Skyrim probably 10 game completes in each case. Generally put around 72-150 hrs max a play through in any one save. I like to change up my mod list every time a start a new save but I keep a few specific mods along the way.

can’t wait for conquers 2.0 so I can wreck the wasteland again.

Some new development. New playthrough. Cleared out Jamaica Plains. Imported a WSFW settlement with a bunch of level 3 plots, but I haven't sent any settler there. Played for some time then came back in the area. So while walking in the vicinity of JP, hard crash, need to restart computer. All troublesome settlements have one thing in common, WSFW import with fully develloped plots. But, I can still fast travel into the settlement without any problem... Is there some kind of script which start when the player get near a settlement?

It can run stuff when you get close cause the upgrades are set to run when you visit. You could try turning upgrades to manual that way nothing fires off when approaching except the hud and resources.

Will give it a try, although "Check power grid" tool didn't show any error.
If you have transfer settlement and can get close enough to open the workshop it checks the power grid and can fix it letting you redo it. Maybe the plan had a broken power grid when it was exported or something.

The most baffling is: I CTD when walking near, but I can fast travel or even save, quit and reload within the settlement without any problem. Usualy, I just scrap all plots and start over. I always check for power grid corruption, and there is nothing to find there.
