I'm really liking the posts!
@VersusXV has the latter type of plot.
This. It is the exact concept for 4 Story, shown here:

I am not much into decorating so specifically prefer a setup where I can place Int Plots to fill them with arrangements from the other addons.

Xbox One Version

Now that I know an Xbox user on here, I can think about future versions of my addon for XB1. I did the initial version but not updates since I have no ability to test on the Xbox as I no longer own one anymore.
The idea is hard to explain maybe, but what I imagine is something like a special foundation that you could put probably three plots in next to each other but with maybe a .5 space between them and on the outside edge. But the foundation itself would also be a plot.
I want to do something like this but not quite sure what form it would take. It's been a while but I think I might have suggested a new "Infrastructure" plot type.
Having plots in a "hybrid" role is somewhat possible by giving a plot
Snap Points for Int Plots or maybe other external plots. It's something I am currently looking into and believe will be something possible for me. First shown by WV2 Gaslight Concoctions(Probably my favorite Commercial plot right now), that got me interested to try to learn about adding snap points.
I have first added them to the versions of the
Custom Foundations that I made, I tried to set up 1x1 & 3x3 versions for most of them that would make sense. They are working fairly well so far. I've been a bit busy but next up I want to view Gaslight Concoctions in Nifskope to study how they set up the snap points to see if I can then add it to 4 Story so you can have easy placement of Int Plots. If that goes well I would like to use the setup on new ideas too.
And then I have an experimental idea from there to try repurposing the proposed "Plot Skins" feature from the upcoming Conquerors Expansion for a kind of "Plot Preferences" setup. I could make there be a few versions like this:
- Empty, with Interior Plots snap points
- Furnished with decorations by me, will not be fancy but will be kept as lightweight as possible & not completely empty. Everything will be a single static if possible, chairs for instance I use a static to put in the SCOL then put a Blue Man rather than spawning a chair furniture reference.
- Ultra-Lite: Since I used to play on Xbox before I built PC, I have seen firsthand the pretty intense hardware limitations. Partly for this reason, I do "hollow" versions of the stage model using 1-way objects. It's basically like the un-enterable buildings in Downtown Boston, they are not rendered on the inside. If I make this be a choice on every level it can become an extra performance lever of sorts for Xbox & low end systems. FPS is dropping? Change skin to Ultra-Lite.
It's based on hypotheses currently, but I am hopeful about it. This might be a good spot to ask opinion about what if I have many options in the plot skins menu? since it would be empty 1, empty2, etc. For however many color variants there are there would be 3 options. My 4 story, Basic Apartment & Poor House have 10 material swap variants so this would be 30 options in the menu.
Addon making becomes a Game unto itself, one that I might add is far better than typical AAA games.
So, instead of just putting three residentials right next to each other, you put this foundation down first which itself upgrades with an alley with decorations and chairs between the houses. Maybe there’s a sleeping bag with a awning over it. Whatever.
Same thing for commercials. Make it into a little shopping district.
Really cool ideas IMO. I actually have a kind of chaotic WIP that can be similar to this.
What I was thinking for it was probably to go with a route of placing multiple of the plot together or possibly some arrangement like RS addon. I think I would likely prefer the way you describe it both as a player and from author PoV. I'd thought it might be confusing for players but seeing it suggested tells me it may be just fine.
I like the shopping district, will see what I can do for it. I'd always had a "Street plot" in mind too.
