City Planners Desk is broken - No terminal, cannot interact with it AT ALL + My entire SS2 seems to have stopped working

So yeah I’ve just noticed that my city planner desks are bugged in every settlement I go to, and I literally can’t use them

For the ones that did exist (these used to work fine prior to this like last time I used them prior to now), the terminal is still there, but they’re broken. When you click on the city supplies for example, it does the sound and animation but nothing comes up, when you click city building plans, it makes the noise but nothing comes up. When you click to manage city, again it makes the noise but nothing comes up

I tried making new city planner desks in places that didn’t have them before, and when you place it, it doesn’t have the terminal ,or even the chair and even weirder the draws in the lower part of the desk just aren’t there, looks like when you pull a drawer out of a desk irl (I’m surprised there’s even a texture for the inside which you’d never normally see lol)

And lastly, the quests are bugged too. I was at the point in the story after the CommHub blows up in Jakes workshop, you know at the point where you receive “Jake’s private radio frequency” and he tells you to meet him at a building in downtown Boston (the quest where you go to that basement and find essentially a copy of the CommHub made by a rival company)

So what’s bugged about it is that when you listen to his radio message it’s meant to put a marker on your map, which it won’t, regardless of what you try. I resorted to using the City Manager Holotape to skip the quest in cheats, and even that did nothing. It didn’t skip it.

I’m pretty sure my entire Sim Settlements is ruined, I thought I’d test that out by doing the misc quest where you go to West Everett Estates to find more ASAM sensors, and you talk to the super mutants in that basement who ask you to find one of their brothers in return for “Ay-Sam Blinkies” as they call them lol. But when I tried to do that, one of them was meant to give me a note to know where to look, but it never gave the note to me so that’s another thing I can’t do.

It seems as though my entire Sim Settlements is ruined, which I have two guesses at what it could be, considering it used to work fine.

Guess 1) Today, I installed SS2: Chapter 2 mid play though after realising that it wasn’t included in the main SS2. Maybe installing that completely ruined the whole SS mod

Guess 2) I also updated Updated Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch (UFO4P) today, and I’ve been searching through these forums for ages trying to find a solution, I saw a mention in like 2018 that a UFO4P updates had caused issues with Sim Settlements. So maybe the two are causing some issues?

I’ve tried loading back saves all the way till a few hours in, it was still that same so that would imply it’s an issue with my current mods and not a faulty save file giving problems or something. I’m 25 hours into this play through, so I’m not really willing to start all over just for SS, so if not I’ll just have to go without it, which is a shame

Anyone know a potential fix? Or is anyone else experiencing this?

I haven't updated to the Unofficial Fallout Patch myself yet. I don't know if others have. Anyone updated have issues with the new version?

  1. Maybe post your plugins.txt (using spoiler tags, please) so we can see your load order?
  2. Could be you got a bad install file, could try re-installing (You should have the current version of Workshop Framework, SS2, and SS2-C2).
  3. Could try rolling back to the previous version of the UFO4P
  4. You could try installing the Workshop Framework Script Override (an optional file) that goes at the bottom of your load order to see if that fixes things up.
  5. See Fixing Your Game - Unfortunately with modding the game, restarts for various reasons are sometimes required. You can always use Quest Skipping to get back to where you were in the SS2 Quest Line. Key things are not installing mods that cause issues (See Known Issues) and having a good load order (See Installation and Load Order)

I have the current version of UFO4P (2.1.5), and haven't had any issues with the desks.

@dan23djr, as far as I know, just installing Ch. 2 should not have caused you issues, unless there was an error with the download/install.

Did you disable or uninstall anything? You may know this already, but you should not disable or uninstall anything from your playthrough, that way leads to madness (and many issues). Any time you remove something from a playthrough, you need to go back to a save from before the removed mod was installed.

Tbh to me it sounds like maaaajor script back-up. Like, it got caught on something. Try downloading Resaver from Fallrim Tools and checking out your active scripts.

Sorry for reviving this thread.

I appear to have the same problem only for "Fairline Hills" and "Mystic Pines". I use the latest versions of these "new settlement" mods , placed at the end of my load order.
Where in MP i'm told that i can now "use the commonwealth workshop", it's the "Fairline Hills workshop" at Fairline Hills.
Both places are not shown as settlements at the map. Also i can open the workshop , add scrap to it and built a city managers desk. But i can't interact with this desk at all. I only can scrap it again, but thats it. There is a very short second i can interact, that's while it's being assembles, but even if i manage to select a building plan, the plan isn't built. Something's not working.

I tried re-installing the mods, changing load orders....nothing helped. Any ideas?

Edit: I tried reloading the save before discovering Fairline. Now i can select the red workshop and enter workshop mode, but this time i can't put scrap in it , because "i don't own this workshop". Again i reloaded, and now i'm stuck again with the first problem.

To me, it sounds like the settlement quests failed to initialize. Did you install them correctly the first time and have them at the bottom of your load order?

Also, do you have any mods that conflict with those cells? Are you using PRP? Do you have scrap everything or anything that messes with precombines?

Both mods plus city plans are on the very bottom of my loadorder.

And im using PRP. I have some more settlements added with SS2 compability, and these work perfectly fine.

I’m not sure if @pra ever updated Fairline to include PRP compatibility and I’m unsure if Mystic Pines has a PRP patch.

....and removing PRP mid-game would cause more trouble, i guess.
Yes. Unfortunately if the settlements are PRP-incompatible then you either have to ditch them or ditch PRP next fresh game. (Personally I ditched PRP having MADE a Fairline City Plan). I know at one point @pra was working on a PRP-patch. I’ll poke him to see if that’s still a possibility.

Do you have HUDFramework installed? It could be that ch1 doesn't require it, but ch2 does. I know ch3 definitely does.
I had similar problems until I installed it.

@Oberhenne Pra confirmed that there is currently no PRP Patch for Fairline and supported my hunch that it sounds like the workshops failed to registered or “registered weirdly.” They are currently working on a PRP Patch for Fairline and are waiting for testers.

Just uploaded the patch. See if it helps.

I'd still recommend testing it with a save from before you first installed the settlement mod. If you're lucky, the workbench just failed to register (workshopID = -1), but it might have registered in a "weird" state instead

That would be a complete new game. But i will test it right away.

So the problem still exists. I can enter Workshop mode and scrap down the complete settlement, even things that are not visible, but i can't add stuff to the workshop inventory, because i don't own it, even as the game said otherwise. Seems like i have to skip Fairline as Settlement.

Ive been having similar issues, at first I couldn't place down plots but I saw HUDframework was missing so reinstalling that fixed that problem but then I ran into a problem with the desk not working, unable to interact with it etc. It all started after I selected a city plan for Red Rocket Truck Stop and while in cinematic mode my game crashed.
