Brothers at Arms - Faction dependant settlement plans

I think it would be really cool to have settlement plans available (yes, I know those take a long time to do each by itself. Tried myself and failed somewhat - so far) that depend on the players faction choice:
Have the Brotherhood settlers be more of a 'guards and workers' in a metal-prefab based militaristic settlement, have the railroad with basically what we are mostly seeing now with lots of stores and entertainment and added synths and robots, have the minutemen with more sirens, watchtowers and pleasant homes and the institute could obviously have their high-tech-clean-walled-garden versions.

I think this could add a bunch of flavour to different faction choices - if the player wishes on a per-settlement basis.

These plans could be locked behind the same quest stages as the faction flags, i.e.

Institute outpost wud be cool with the all white look :)

My first attempt at a BOS sanctuary base failed utterly. As much as I love my own idea, I guess I need to hope that some pro's actually consider it time-worthy. *sigh* I'm not giving up on learning to create city plans, but for me, the baby, wife, work, household always win vs computer-time.

*edit2*
I think I might actually need to start at learning to create some buildings to be able to even think about creating anything like a bos-themed-settlement. I kind of need at least the small and large martial plot for creating a military forward base within enemy ghoul and mutant invested synth fest of a territory. Sticking to the aesthetics of the boston airport BoS base should be easy, thanks to the 'simplistic military style' they go well with. It'll still take me a couple of months, probably. Sketching some ideas during lunch break. Is that tutorial-mentioned-clothes thing already working? Would be rather cool to have the brother reflect the level mostly: Light forward infantry like in boston airport = level 1, Heavy Combat Armor Infantry = level 2, a PA-Knight with gatling for level 3...

So much inspiration so much confusion. I'll suggest more once I get some sketches drawn... anyone of the professional plot builders a Brotherhood of Steel fan? :D

Come to think of it: Maybe there's actually an obvious "upgrade theme" path in all of this:
- Level 1: A quickly established and secured base with defence positions made from sandbags and deployable walls, concrete or metal. Maybe a simple heat and light source like a fire-barrel.
- Level 2: It's getting some logistics going (fits with that general rule of getting lights on level 2 plots) and improve on the fortifications like the boston airport base. A vertibird-pad in the base should fit right in and some regular turrets.
- Level 3: Time and resource allow for permanent base of operations with some (laser?) turrets, partially 2 story walls, lookout positions, some Knights guarding. Overall more Prydwen inspired.

The plan:
  1. learn how to build and then build the martial plots 1x1 and 2x2 (piece of cake *cough*)
  2. build a first working city plan that resembles a BoS base.
  3. actually build a working city plan that works
  4. now get all the feedback from the ones who know what they are doing and REALLY build a working city plan and it's levels.
  5. create more city plans (for at least those settlements that would make sense for a BoS base of operations. Starlight, Murkwater, Overland, Finch, Nordhagen, Spectacle Island... Create Coverage for the air-support.
  6. bug kinggath about adding a way to have the plan switch depending on the selected flag.
  7. Find someone to do the same using an institute theme
  8. Ignore railroad or have someone dedicated to their cause do it
  9. Do more cities and or improve existing ones.

I expect to get done with 1. within the next one or two years.

Report: Spent the evening messing around with the CK... Results:
- mad wife
- CTDs on load (yes, my plot/esp seems to crash the game! Don't ask me, idk.)
- tired @ work now

How are you people doing this? (It was great fun, though).

I was also thinking, a year back or so, that I would make some faction addons. Still haven't had the time for it. So much to do, so little time.
:moil

I think your plan is solid and if you ever get through 1. and manage to publish something, the thrill of seeing your buildings in other people’s games will keep you going on with the next couple of steps. Especially since faction buildings are one of the types most asked for, and there are so few so far.

For the CTD inducing mesh/esp - get an invite to the Builder’s Discord, I’m sure someone there can help figure out what went wrong. And it’s nice to have a place to vent :wacko

Thanks for the encouragement. I will have to calm down the wife now, though. The ctd might actually be my fallout not liking me haveing cleaned the directory. Will reinstall completly and try again from a clean start. Combining these two activities should work as my snail-internet is just as slow as the forgivennes is being gained. ;)

I am looking forward to my first 1x1 martial plot that's basically just a place for a soldier to stand and gurad stuff. Starting small. :D

Ok - I just stopped by briefly to say this: I declare this idea open for all. The little one is currently combining teeth and cuppord clearing... my wife is close to a breakdown and I got a deadline with a huge raise depending on it at work. As much as that hurts - all of that is prooobably more important than fallout4. :/

Well, I'll be back some day. And either someone has picked this up or I might by then. Or it's obsolete due to kinggaths super awsome secret plans... who knows.

See you all and thanks for every mod and expansion and hint and help!

Yeah I love this idea. I am waiting for this city plan contest info but I'm intending to work on a Pack or Operator set.

First need to figure out how to cap NW raider recruitment to city plan though.

Yep - been waiting for a Children of Atom based settlement. There's at least 1 Raider-themed mod on XBox that I use at times. And certain Leader perks will trigger BoS, Institute synths/coursers, etc., to patrol your settlement, so the basis is there.
Silver Shroud might make an interesting theme for a settlement.
Botanist? (Mayor's Hut: the Botany Bay?) Apiarist? (Have Stingwings and other flying insects at your command.)
Best wishes to you and your endeavors!
