After struggeling for weeks now, to get a heavily modded new Game to work, inspired by the great man‘s own playthrough on youtube and the seemingly very highly rated Mod list and load Order by BiRaitBeck and some Cityplans by Yagisan in new Settlements locations,I am giving up and starting form scratch.
Please know that I in no way feel that a Playthrough with 200+ mods should be a plug and play experience, and that I am hugely gratefull for all the awesome mods the community realeses and for all those nice people in these forums I have learned so much from.
I wanted to verify what I have learned here over the last weeks reading up about the problems I encountered in my first tries. I tried to keep my points short, and I hope you can bear with my english spelling.
This is my plan so far, and maybe someone knows answers to the questions I still have, or can correct me where I am wrong.
1) Start a clean Install („Purge your Data Folder“), otherwise old problems might be imported in a new Save. Do I have to uninstall Fallout 4 or can I purge my Data another way? I would prefer not to punish my 1Mbit/s Internet more than I need to and redownload the whole game, since I would like to play again before Christmas
2) Follow BeRaitBacks instructions Step# 0
3) Install Sim Settlements 3 in 1, Conqueror, Workshop Plus, Workshop Framework, Hud Framework. And because I love the idea of Commonwealth Engineering Plus by Yagisan, install the mod itself and its requirements, since in some of the mod‘s describtions it says, download before a new play through.
Do you guys have any other mods in mind you would recommend, that require installation before starting a new game? I vaguely remember Raybo once mentioned to install a Castle Rebuilt mod before a new game, but not to enable it before all castle quests where completed…
4) Start a new game and press Enter if the first loading screen doesnt seem to end after a good minute.
5) Set up the pre builds:
At heart I am a sucker for completion, years ago I went out of my way to find every trinket in an Assasins Creed game, so obviously I want every City plan being build at on point in game, and conquer them with Jammer at level 3.
I know that it is practically not possible, espacially with a I5700k and and RX480.
So dont choose Red Rocket, Sanctuary, Specticale Island, the Castle in the same Save. But apart from that, what do you guys reckon is a safe starting percantage to prebuild?
In my last attempt I prebuild every Settlement apart from RR, SI, the Castle and Boston Airport. Additionally I had most of Yagisans City plans pre built to level 2-3 and for the first couple of hours I had 0 issues at pretty great frame rates considering everything.
Then it started CTD, but not necessarly only when I entered big Settlements.
What do you guys reckon is a safe starting percantage to prebuild and wich combinations of settlements is stable? I from what i gathered I should be able to have Cityplans/big manually built Cities in:
-Sanctuary or Red Rocket or Abanarthy or the Observatory (north of Sanctuary)
-Tempines Bluff or Outpost Zimonja,
-Covenant or Taffingtion Boathouse
-Greygarden or Oberlandstation
-The Castle or Spectacle Island or Warwick Homestead or Atom Cats Garage
6) When in game, to keep things working great is it bad/dangerous to fast travel and sleep or walk from from lets say Starlight to Abernathy a lot, or does it even help to give the Game a change to catch up and take a break with all its scripts and such? Does it matter if I open and close the workshop a lot when building, in order to make a save?
7) Does it create issues to slightly adjust a City plan that is still being build. Like changing a plot type, adding own structures, scraping stuff the city plan built? Does it hinder performence or progress of the City plan towards level 3?
8) I have read here a couple of times that Vis-G item sorting can be a source of instability and or lag. Please tell me its safe to use because I freakin love it!
9) I know to never uninstall a mod (generally spoken), what about disabling, adding or reinstalling?
10) Since Vortex is a thing, for the casual user like me a load order from someone else is not as helpfull as it used to be, because you cant just „copy“ it or force it into your mod manager anymore Now i feel I should be much more intrested in groups and its members.
I tried to learn about groups, and load orders and conflicts and and the new way of the Vortex, but I have to admit I did understand the gist of it, but when it comes to it, I dont have a firm idea of what to do in real life. I dont take working modded games for granted, since I dont pay any money to the authors or to you forum helpers, I dont expect it to be plug and play, but for me as a student (with relativly a lot of free time) I feel that I am much closer to the point of taking up a second study ( Modding ) than to play the actual game.
Is there any common basis you experts agree on? Basic groups to set up and which mods, that many of you guys use, to put where; like SS, Place Everywhere, Vis-G, UOFO4P, Armorsmith, etc?
Maybe even with best practices on what to do with companion mods, animation mods, weapons…..
I really hope I am already close to a good way of doing things and that I dont ask to much of you at once, but maybe if you can give me clarity it might help other people as well to get up and running.
Thank you so much in advance and have a nice lag free day.
