With the faction toolkit coming some time in the future, I'm curious what people are planning to make.

I think I'll do a smaller scale one for at first then later do a more major one. The smaller one would be focused on just gameplay side, I'd like a strong to OP faction that could be useful for testing raiding & for testing a City Plan for when it defends a raid. Longer term I would like a detailed faction that might include custom assets though of course that puts it farther in the future.

I'm not sure which actual factions I would use as a basis. I think it will depend in part on what will be made by others. Ideally I would choose one that isn't already going to be made though I might disregard this if tons of faction mods will be made. If we get an absolutely massive number of faction mods like 100+, I might choose to do a non Fallout faction like one from Metal Gear Solid.

I've thought about CoA a little. I'm thinking about them or Super Mutants or maybe just Mercenaries for my short term faction which will be centered around challenge.

Oh, I am still just a minute man kind of guy. That has eaten too many fruit loops :crazy

Still, at this point I am really not playing FO4 anymore, I am playing mods. I am playing for settler progression and quality of life improvement. Pro-NPC is really the faction I play by default. The factions have become little more than an afterthought to settlements to me.

:whistle3 So pure creative fantasy here. The CoA would be interesting, but I would want Jammer to be something like a Zeta Alien, or to discover the Raider faction was being controlled by a Zeta Overlord with an internal twist that is not black and white. Almost as if the player has to make a choice that isn’t black or white but a lesser evil in which to have an impact “either” direction. Hahaha, Sound familiar? :lol

Same with Super mutants with an intelligent Death Claw overlord or vise a versa? :poohgo hahaha a teddy bear faction, hahaha kidding..:tease kind of, :poohlol

A planet of the ape’s spin-off, you the protagonist are the first find a group of mutated but intelligent death claws or institute gorillas? Fixes some dialog issues as it could all be text as in subtitles but sound like grunts and who know what else.

@Donald Strong would be the overlord for sure.

Not 100% sure but I think Super Mutants appeals to me. I can make it kinda silly & just have fun with it, experiment and figure out the systems deeply. That way what I learn can inform my decisions for my later major faction

Thinking about it and not being too silly.

A Synth faction with ties to the railroad populated with settlers who have just discovered that they really not fully human and needing to find a place in the world like the ghouls at the Slog would be fantastic!

A mini-faction and maybe just one or two settlements? To uncomplicate things.

Dogs. No, really. Just dogs. Without voiced lines, of course. Not sure how they'd work plots, but hey, maybe someone will make plots that make sense for dogs.

However, while I wait for dogs:
1) CoA would be a cool one
2) Diamond City Security
3) Triggermen (I made this - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/38005)
4) Enclave
5) Feral ghouls if a player wanted to be a playable Ghoul
6) Molerat Man/Woman!
7) Gunners, though an offshoot or rejected Gunners?
8) Forged, rejected?

It's very tempting to do a whole bunch though long term might be hard to juggle them all, when faction system will continually evolve & expand. It will be super important for the custom factions to be updated for each Conqueror & Sim Settlements patch.

I am thinking about possibly Enclave in long term. Minutemen if much time passes and no one creates them or any other Good Guys option. A lot will depend on what the others make

I was thinking of working on a Gunner faction over the weekend actually, originally wanted to do Enclave but Im new to all this.

Not really good to dive in with custom assets ripped/poorly made. lol

There are so many I would like to see, as I have a lot of builds that I haven't played through yet.
The list as of today is something like this:

Fist the ones who lore wise are nearby, could easily migrate, or are in the commonwealth already.

Religious factions:
Children of Atom
Treeminders (if all 3 of the concept art armor for Harold the cultist would be included)
Hubologist
Maybe some sort of tribal religious factions, like the Sorrows from Honest Heart. But more fitting to the area of Boston.

Raider factions:
Forged
Trapper
Rust Devils
Pitt Raiders (like some sort of the Pitt fell to the slaves, so the found some new hunting ground)
Some kind of tribal raiders like the White Legs, but again fitting for the area.
A prison type gang like the Powder Gangers, but from a nearby prison.

Mercenary factions:
Gunners
Talon Company
Reilly's Rangers

Remnants:
Chinese remnants
Maybe some army remnants, who didn't team up with the enclave. But are more minute men alike.

Vigilantes:
Regulators

Armies/Main factions:
The Bos
The Outcast (But this time its the normal people they wanna help, so with Lyon points of view, but the armor like in Fallout 3)
Enclave
Institute
Rail Road

Mobsters:
Triggermen

Others:
Atom Cats
Some friendly like tribal gang, like the Dead Horses but again fitting for the area of Boston.

Then if we should see past lore, then almost every past faction from the other Fallout games.

I'm working on a BOS one at the moment... Going to tie it into the main story quest a bit and working on custom meshes for decorations. I have do many ideas I can't keep them all straight lol

Been working on an institute faction for my game. Got some ideas down the road to test for some R&D type stuff for the player as well. Basics is finished, just working on getting decorations to work, bug fixing, and balancing.

Minutemen

  1. Beginnings
    1. The Encounter
      1. I see this just past the Brahman carcass, but before the trigger area for Jammer. It would be before completing the quest that involves helping Jammer and before helping Preston. Let’s call the NPC “Fast Eddy” male/female name variant as applicable.
      2. Eddy would be standing on the porch or by the mailbox of the 1st house. He would hail you and start talking about getting your help.
        1. “Hey, I’m so glad you came by, because I could really use your help.”
        2. “Have you heard of the Minutemen?”
      3. At this point Eddy would give a brief overview. Then fill you in on how long Eddy had been looking for Preston to help rebuild the Minutemen and then ask for your help in saving Preston and the settlers from the Raiders.
      4. A charisma check would get Eddy to temporarily be a companion in helping save Preston and the settlers.
        1. He would lead you in a route that either bypasses Jammers dialogue trigger area and then to begin attacking the Raiders.
        2. He would follow you into the Jammer dialogue trigger area with a side comment to say that Jammer can’t be trusted.
      5. Once you takeout the Raiders inside the Museum of Freedom Eddy would say something about guarding the front entrance area inside the Museum while you talk to Preston.
      6. After getting the power armor and clearing out the rest of the Raiders and complete your dialogue with Preston that starts them headed to Sanctuary Eddy say they will see you in Sanctuary.
      7. Once in Sanctuary Eddy will volunteer to be both quartermaster and recruiter for the rebuilding of the Minutemen. Eddy would then hangout close to the workbench.
    2. Finally Found
      1. This would happen if you go a route that bypasses both encounters with Jammer and Eddy. Instead of encountering Eddy in Concord Eddy shows up in Sanctuary after Preston sends you on your first quest.
      2. Eddy will basically tell you the same story of trying to track down, catch up with and join Preston in rebuilding the Minutemen. With your permission Eddy will act as both Quartermaster and Recruiter.
  2. Missions
    1. What Happened to the Minutemen
      1. This would be a series of quests to find out what happened to the Minutemen. By going to all the different places were there are Minutemen references in the game the history would put together. This would not include going to the Castle.
      2. Minutemen Outposts
        1. This would be building a Minutemen Martial plot.
          1. Level 1 of the plot would just be a shack of some sort with a desk, filing cabinets, chalkboard, trash can and weapons racks.
          2. Level 2 would add a two way radio after taking the Castle that would be maned by a NPC like the one at the Castle. This would include a radio tower.
          3. Level 3 would add both a watchtower and a working artillery after completing Old Guns.
      3. Spreading the Word
        1. This would be DLC dependent.
          1. Far Harbor & Nuka World DLC. Eddy would send you on a mission that would enable you to use both flares to call for Minutemen help and smokes to call for fire from your Settlements in Far Harbor.
      4. Equipping the Ranks
        1. This quest could be used many times to go and get more armor a
