How is your 1st playthrough of Chapter 3, everyone?

I am not sure if this kind of thread is appropriate for "Question & Help". But this definitely does not fit with "Discussion", so I post here.

As the title states, how is your 1st impression of Chapter 3?
Because I have discarded the previous MOD environment for SS2, I will not be able to play it for some time, and would very much like to hear your thought and opinion about it (as well as some advice). Thanks in advance!

I would love to learn how to live stream a playthrough. I'm at level 84 right now and using a mod called "Modern Weapons" that gives you weapons like the HK-416, M-4, M-61 Vulcan, Accuracy Arms .50 cal sniper rifle, and even an 88mm cannon! I don't use city plans though as I get too many crashes using them. I build what I need and place it anywhere I can fit it as for some reason Nexus won't let me download "place everywhere".
The streaming software "OBS" is actually pretty easy to use, as is the "start a livestream" tab on Youtube. I'd actually be doing some streaming myself if the internet here wasn't so freakin' unstable in terms of up/down speeds - tried it a couple times a while back and it's just too temperamental for me.

Are you trying to manually download or are you using a mod manager?
What message do you get when trying to download?
Says I need F4SE but it won't download that at all. I would have to try again to tell you the message it gives me for sure but it's something like "unable to download F4SE". I'm not computer literate enough to find out why.

My internet here is fiber optic with pretty consistent speeds. I'm just not computer literate enough to figure some of this stuff out. Need to find a teenager to pay to load it all up for me I guess.

So I'm finally back up to CH3 again on my new save, and... turns out you can save Neil during that first quest - I'd honestly assumed it was guaranteed failure. Dude has amazing stats for the Engineering Department, better than most of the Unique Settlers for it.
I'd spoilertag that but it's the first quest, and I'm not giving the solution

Did that on my first look into Chapter 3. Took a lot of reloading tho.
Also a bit confused about the music that plays during that quest. Maybe it's from the Faded glory mod I use? Because it fits really well, especially after the Thing kills Neil.

I didn't notice anything different about the music, but I only had my headphones sitting around my neck instead of on my ears.

How has your testing gone with Subversion? That's one of my "must have" mods and I'd be a bit saddened if I have to disable it during a playthrough
Still haven't done it :/ I wanted to find out how it all plays out without it, but that means finishing vanilla several times lol. Or at least be close to "point of no return in ch3", whatever it is. Make a save there and try the mods. Though I guess what really matters is if ch3 breaks cause of it somewhere else

I'd play thru it with a save where ive already finished subversion as my base going forwards. However the issues Im having right now probably have nothing to do with that. I cant even get thru Flickering Lights without the majority of content breaking or not working as intended even if I can complete the majority of the quest. Having to console command or skip so much of it, Im guessing this will extend to the rest of the mod and im just going to sit things out however long as needed until its in a better shape. If antoine has the time he will probably beat me to it. Timewise I might not touch this again till next year or maybe after my Starfield curiosity is sated :D

Would habe loved to see it all work out.
But after so many new tries, reloads, CTDs i'm fed up.
Now its after "State of war" finishes and Magnusson cals i get not a CTD but a prompt that the game crashed and needs to quit. tried a LOT of other options, but the last Assault is what allways breaks the camels back.
Maybee i will try again in a year or two. When i can maybee come backto F4 and SS2.
Sorry!

I probably will, right now work is getting in the way of doing cooler things lol. Damn work. Where's the fun in that.

Well it could be related to that workshop array issue you're having... Even if the hangar is not technically a settlement at that point. Honestly I've no idea just how badly that breaks SS2 if you have it (assuming it's pretty bad) but it sounds like it warrants a restart. But it's fair for someone to wait to play it until later. My xbox experience taught me to let go of material desires (aka wanting to play on a single level 120 save forever).

It's kind of funny, the design of the game itself seems like they wanted you to just play one character forever, but even completely unmodded it'd break long before you hit the theoretical "level cap" anyway.

What was the level cap again? lol
My record was 150 something I think. My level 118 save that I had for years started breaking when I started removing mods (silly me).
(also plain vanilla was so damn boring, it's impossible to reach level cap, whatever it is. Even Preston had nothing to ask of me)

Technically the game doesn't cap your level. But, you'd have run out of things to spend perk points on by level 272 (as in, that's the point you'd have maxed out all SPECIAL stats and all perks). And if you ever have more than 65535 unspent Perk Points, the game itself will die.
And yeah, even spamming Radiant Quests until your eyes bleed you'd get bored long before that anyway. Never mind that thanks to how enemy HP scaling works, your damage output potential would absolute max out somewhere in the 150 range, but enemy HP would continue to rise beyond that point...

It's a workshop from the moment you start the game with it installed. Doesn't matter if you activate it or not. The game initialises them the moment they are added. Not when they are claimed. So, yeah, workshops issues are possibly one problem.

Im stuck. I got past the recruitment of my new military leader. Then 8 or 9 quests popped. I started to work on them, managing to complete 3, probably 4hrs gameplay going around to different settlements and setting up outposts. I then decide to attack Sommerville on my way to Vault 95 for the quest Internal Affairs. I get through the assault on Sommerville (after many tries including one time when everything seemed to go perfect until right after "liberating" them my troops assasinated the poor father living there like we were robobrains working for the mechanist) but when I get to vault 95 I get stuck on a black loading screen after clearing the outside. I figure this is because of my assault on Sommerville just prior. The other night I load back into the save I made before the raid on Sommerville and go straight to vault 95 same problem. I tried this 3 more times failing to progress past raiding the outside. When I searched this I find my new military leader (trying no spoilers) is supposed to join me and we go inside. The only thing I can think of to try is go back to when I finished the quest recruiting him and trying the Internal Affairs quest first. Anyone got anything that you can think of that may help me here?

I had problems progressing this quest and the way I got Salvador to appear at Vault 95 and continue the quest was to stand just inside the entrance, at the vault door, during the time the quest spawns in reinforcements and then has you deal with remaining gunners. Anytime I cleared the assault outside the vault entrance would grant me the "score" scene but no fly by and no quest progression. The fly by cutscene is an integral part of quest progression in some quests, it would appear, even though it's very hit and miss as to whether it triggers.

I'm level 65 and I think assault difficulty maybe needs to be toned down. Way too many green walking bullet sponges. Also Annihilators.

The element of that I'm finding frustrating is that the enemies at raids are leveled to the player... but it sure feels like your troops aren't. Might just be the garbage "default Loadout" that's the issue (that armor they're given only has 10 DEF, and they only get pipe guns) but only partially. Only times I've had a zero-injuries assault was where I busted out some Nuke Grenades and the enemy forces all spawned piled up on the flagpole.
Note that even using the Holotape Quest Skip Cheat to get straight up to chapter 3, you will be at least playerlevel 20 before you start doing any raids.

Being able to use other Troop Types would also help, when that eventually gets implemented. You best believe I am going to literally bury the Gunners alive in Gen 1 Synths.
