Vault 88 jam up

Playing SS2 on PC and got a message that Vault 88 was being attacked. I fast traveled directly into the vault, took care of the raiders at the entrance inside the vault. When I tried to quick save, the "in progress" icon just stayed on for several minutes and wouldn't complete, I ending up having to restart the computer. Same thing happened when I fast traveled nearby Vault 88 and went in, meeting the raiders inside the cave entrance. Couldn't save, quick save, had to restart the computer. Anyone else see this or have a solution?

This happens to me all the time, too... I think it might have something to do with the burrowing enemy bug that some experience in Mad Mulligan's in NW, and in Vault 81. There are a couple different mods to help with those locations, so you could maybe try it and it'll help for Vault 88, as well. This is the one in my game right now:

I know I've had a heck of a time in the past getting the game to actually save inside Vault 88. And it would freeze the game on the loading screen, even if I tried to exit. So frustrating! I often had to hit the windows key or ctrl-alt-delete to get the task manager up (making sure the task manager window was set to always display over top of other programs) so I could end the Fallout4.exe task from there.

I'm not 100% sure this is what's happening in your game, but it might give you some leads?

I hit Ctrl-alt-dlt, task manager come up, but the screen goes black, thanks for the tip, I've set task manager to open on top. Vault 88 still very frustrating.

Thank you, I will investigate that mod. This took care of the problem. Thanks to all who responded with their recommendations.

THANK YOU. This fixed it. (also reminded me of why I voided Shamrock Taphouse).
