thanks for the link to that vid. very informative. now I know.
I remember I chose to say something that Mama Murphy told me, in one of my playthroughs. I said to Malone, " remember the quarry " and he let us go.
I've tried all the conversation options over the years, now I just say he's fat and ugly and kill them all.
