Since updating, super slow saves. I mean quick saves, real saves, etc. 20+ mins!!
I have no idea other than different things are occuring for each of us. But I have monitored the save-game directory and have noticed that behavior, and have not been able to load the save (for obvious reasons). Maybe next time your game freezes on save, look at what's going on in your save directory?I'm willing to concede that you know far more about this than me. This question is not meant to be argumentative, I'm just seeking explanation.
Twice I have Alt-F4'd the game because I thought it froze while saving. Both times I was able to restart and load the save that I thought I had just hard closed out of and continue playing without a snag. This is what led me to believe that the save was completed and the game was freezing before returning control to the player's hands. If the saves are .tmps while the game is frozen, how is the above scenario possible?
Just checked, I do not. Curiously though I have about 15 autosaves despite the fact that I keep my save folder clean and have had autosave disabled since 2.0.0a arrived. Now I only get autosaves when I choose a new perk, and I def. shouldn't have that many of them.I have no idea other than different things are occuring for each of us. EDIT: I want to add that it seems that the .tmp files that the game leaves on force close (for me anyway) never get deleted. So an easy way to determin if the game is not finishing a save for you (at any time in the past) is to search your save directory for ".tmp".
As confusing as this is... I suspect this indeed means multiple different things are going on. What are the things you experience? I have occasional slow saves away from my settlement, much more likely to get a slow save after and while being in my settlement, and almost always on the autosave after sleeping in my settlement it is quite long.Just checked, I do not. Basically I'm just getting slow quicksaves (30 secs to a few minutes) when I'm in a semi-busy settlement. it doesn't happen every time, but most times. When I had autosave it seemed to be noticeably slower than quicksave. I get a frozen screen when I fast travel from an SS settlement or to an SS settlement even from a vanilla only place. e.g. Finch is still stock except 2 turrets and a bed for Strong. The game saves there normally, I can fast travel to and from there normally. Unless I'm trying to FT to the castle, or sanctuary, or starlight, you get the idea. A plot heavy place (3 or more, i don't seem to have trouble in any settlement with only 1 or 2 plots.)As confusing as this is... I suspect this indeed means multiple different things are going on. I don't think mod count or conflict is the problem. I'm running 115 mods on a 5 year old machine and my problems are much less than some peoples with a much slimmer mod list (thinking XBox players specifically.) I've compared lists with player where we only have SS2, WSFW, and HUDFW in common. I've only had 3 CTDs since the 2.0 update and honestly that's about on par for any Bethesda game (except Doom 2016, its never given me a problem, so I guess even a blind squirrel can still find a nut.)Fresh game with an - again - reduced mod list. Long saves start with "If I had a Hammer", with autosaves being the longest.
This sort of coincides with other reports as well, including on Xbox, where myself and others have had the return from the long save put you instantly back at the setting screen, which means the game was in fact “back” in some sense and then you didn’t do anything so it started the “spin camera” and you still didn’t so it paused and went to settings menu screen. All while it was just sitting there saying “saving”I'm willing to concede that you know far more about this than me. This question is not meant to be argumentative, I'm just seeking explanation.

yep. And that would happen from time to time on vanilla, especially in boston, but it was always going cell to cell, never on a save, and now it's happening a few times a day. Maybe someone was smokin a j on the server floor and the game forgot what it was doing? This sort of coincides with other reports as well, including on Xbox, where myself and others have had the return from the long save put you instantly back at the setting screen, which means the game was in fact “back” in some sense and then you didn’t do anything so it started the “spin camera” and you still didn’t so it paused and went to settings menu screen. I'm guessing you didn't read any of the previous 12 pages of this thread...We really need someone who can replicate this issue with a clean( no mods but SS2 & ch2) and see if there is a consistent issue there.
Hope to HelpATTENTION
We are trying to eliminate some potential issues and I'd like to ask some users that have the bug to do a little something to test, please.
1) Enable your Papyrus logging and trigger a long save. After it's done, please copy the last lines of the log and post it here. I'm interested in seeing from about 5 lines before you see "VM is freezing" to 5 lines after you see "VM is thawing". We don't need 10 results, just 2 or 3, so no need to spam the thread.
2) Users on PC: Do any of you have the bug running only the SS2 chain of mods (SS2, WSFW, etc)? If yes, could you provide a savegame, please? If not, is anyone willing to help debug this by trying to replicate this bug with only SS2-related mods? Our goal is to have a savegame easy to reproduce locally so SS Team could grab your save and investigate. So if you have other mods or large mod orders, it's not worth to ask the SS Team to go installing a shitton of mods to replicate your modlist.
