Starfield General (+ Info Compilation)

Starfield, So many possibilities waiting to happen. Currently it is pretty empty with only a few cities and settlements. Ship building has a learning curve, sadly there is no instructions. Resource "settlements" are just bare bone sadly. Some of the quests are good but most need more depth. the big question is how could it be improved?

Resource settlements should be a start to creating a functional settlement. Settlements need NCP's, create jobs, create happiness, create trade with towns, cities, and factions.

Space stations on top of planetary settlements. Allowing for mining asteroids by the space station, ship repairing and creation of huge ships too big to land on planets, Specialized space stations that would focus on trade, entertainment, medical, technology and other possibilities.
The ability to claim and put abandoned wartime sites to use. Restoring and enhancing as well as expanding the site.

NG+ is wide open as far as possibilities. Perhaps a cloaked planet that is the NG+ home world. Returning to a previous reality with all the items acquired restored. The ability to modify the ships and spacesuits of the NG+. Perhaps a supreme council that would give you quest that would alter the reality of either previous universes or perhaps save an individual from death or change their alignment to a faction.

The future is in our hands and our thoughts. Feedback is very welcome. Come on, the builders kit release from Bethesda and you never know someone might activate a G.E.C.K. on a barren planet!

So far my biggest interests lie with a couple of things.

How extensive and moddable is the base building system?
Can we use that to create space stations?
And does anyone think there will be a way to save and share base and starship builds?
As far as I know the components to create a space station exist. Question is will the creators kit allow you to make space stations? Currently the base building system is bare bones but the possibilities are out there.
Saving and sharing your builds in the game should hopefully work similarly to Fallout 4.
We will see what the possibilities will be in a few months when they release the creators kit.

HAHAHAHAHA... i am not touching again so long as I draw breath. that game is shovelware/abandonware. I would have rather it stayed Vaporware. Bethesda has sunken to such a low point in my opinion the bossman at Xbox is gonna have to go cut DEEP in the fat, the ameneties, the benefits and fire the personality hires. there is clearly far too much fat and not enough meat to Bethesda nowadays.

I did play the game for 2 months and I did had fun 1.5 month but no other Bethesda game have ever last so short time as 1.5 months. I even played the buggy first Skyrim version for a year, and did replay it for 2 years 2020 with all new cool mods. I did start playing Bethesda games 1996 and started with modding 2004.

Daggerfall 1 year
Morrowind 2 years
Oblivion 2 years

That is how long time these games lasted for me and that is a bit more than 1.5 month.

The Starfield players are leaving the game, that is what the statistic are claiming from Steam and what annoys me most is that every planet has the same animals and plants and that it is more or less pointless to explore and after a month, when you did the same factory or base for the 10th time, you really do not see any point playing the game further in NG+ mood all over again and everyone are forced to do it as there is a save game bug that stores to many random reference ID's and every time we start up the game, so many refs gets new IDs.

But the biggest reason I dislike this game is that it has no open world as every cell are small micro cells and you reach every border in every cell on every planet extremely fast. Another thing I dislike is that we have no freedom where to fly manually with the spaceships. I would have liked to be able to fly where ever I like, just hovering above the surface but that is impossible.

I do guess that CS will not save this game, no matter how cool mods that are coming in the future as the base game do kill the immersion that all other Bethesda games with an open world has. Lets hope TES 6 and Fallout 5 will have a proper open world and that these tiny cells that Starfield has will just be a bad memory. ;)

The game looks good after a lot of editing and finding the right ENB, turning off that bloody grain effect and using a proper Reshade, no doubt but honestly, Fallout look good without Reshade but I do use ENB. But is the look everything really? Will even SSS save it? ;) Sim Settlements Starfield? I doubt it, sorry for being so negative but even Daggerfall was funnier to play really than Starfield. I did replay Daggerfall 3 years ago, fully modded with the Unity engine and I loved it, as much as I did 1996.

I've enjoyed playing Starfield so far (since release day), there are some really deep stories buried in there. Try sticking with Sarah, for instance, and learning about her deepest hurt, and helping her to come to terms with that. All the Constellation characters have pretty intriguing back stories. SF is #3 in my list of favorite games, with TES V: Skyrim at #1 and Fallout 4 at #2. The modding community has already done some really impressive things, even without a CK available yet. Its "emptiness" is actually a strength, because it gives modders a bigger canvas to work their magic on. Does it have some things that aren't well done, yep! The ship builder needs a lot of work, but modders are working on that. Outpost construction needs a lot of work as well, but there are modders doing cool things with that. Ultimately, I'd love to see an outpost construction kit/mod that doesn't rely on me having to spin up my own mining company and truck resources around the Settled Systems (and beyond). I'd love to see a system where I can buy the components that I can form together into a cohesive community on some remote planet, or in orbit, from a sales rep from Riyujin or the TA, and they get delivered to my chosen location, ready for me to build. In the meantime, I'll continue to do what I like to do in TES V and FO4, hunt monsters and bad guys and bring them to an end, all the while building up my credits, so that I can upgrade things.

The RP and immersion is top Knox, no doubt and the quests are great, but they only last for 1.5 months as I had done them all within that time period and started NG+ and it is to planets dislike, running in the same bases 20 times over... I might pick it up again when the modding community gets started with CK and I might recreate my Legacy of the Champion from Oblivion in Starfield, maybe... Right now I like Fallout 4 much much more.

I agree to that. I have played TES since 1996, Daggerfall, modded it since 2004, Morrowind and I was part of the Canadian Ice's modding Community and I did learn most I know about CK, Scripting and 3D from Qarl (R.I.P 2011) and he helped our whole community as well, so we could learn how to make highest, best quality and most good looking stuff as possible and I sure miss that time period and we got split up around 2010, which is a shame, just before Skyrim came out so some of us made a lot of stuff for Oblivion as well in casual and different teams, depending on the current projects running. :)

Each time I get to the Unity, I start the game over, which is silly in one way, since NG+ is essentially starting the game over, but from an alternate timeline so to speak. I keep finding new mods to add, and I will usually start a new game depending on the new mod. There are 7000+ mods already, even without the CK, thanks in large part to the wizards that brought us script extender, which makes modding possible even without the CK.

CK do have a lot of advantages that is impossible to do with Xedit and I am aware of the number of mods added and I added loads of them myself.

The quality of the future mods will increase a lot with CK as then it will be possible to make custom cities, settlements and most important, a lot of cool Quest and adventures mods. It will also be easy to add new objects, like new creatures or whatever. What I personally would love to see is DLC sized faction mods and that will expand the game-play forever, as that is what most players enjoy in Bethesda's games I suppose, when we play it. I have made DLC sized mods myself (for Oblivion) and one of them took 2 years to make so I do not expect such a mod will be available soon after CK gets published, not even if it is a team project.

What I do know is that I might test the game again in 2-3 years after CK gets released. I might initiate a DLC sized mod myself as I do have good ideas about what I wanna do and what it all will be about. I also know it will take me 2 years at least if I do it. At the moment I am more interested of to initiate making mods for Fallout really. Right now I feel Fallout is a much better game, even if Starfield do look extremely fancy and I like fancy stuff.
