Old Post Stage 1/4 forever

Hello there.
I've installed the mod and after 2 hours (rl hours) nothing happened yet. Stage 1/4 is hanging on 100% and the menu to choose settlements and plans has appeared multiple times, basically everytime I change zones. After that the bar goes back to 100% in a second and stays there forever. Is that normal and if not, what am I supposed to do?

How many other mods do you have installed?

Umm, a lot, but no "big ones". Just a bunch of weapons and armor

Okay, so I looked my mods up. Total active mods 138. active plugins 235. Most of them are armor, weapons, settlement objects and some crafting mods

Okay, so I disabled all the "non-essential" mods ( small stuff like looksmenu is still active) and I´m down to 105 active plugins. Question: Does Conqueror work with Start Me Up? I use it to skip this annoyingly long family intro and to start as something else than the worst dad in history, so I´d rather not deactivate it if it´s not compeltely necessary...

It could very well be that this your conflict. It takes about two hours for the prebuilt process to finish. Conqueror wants you to stay in the prewar house/ vault 111 until the process is completed.

How does your Start me Up handle this? However it does, you'd want the prebuild process finished before you enter the actual game world.

According to this reddit thread:

Loremaster_Chrysaor : "I did it with start me up. It worked for me if I spawned in a cell like good neighbor or diamond city. Or if you just do the memory and start in the cryo pod."

But, then:
Beaudism: "What worked for me was starting in the vault. sucks, but it works."

It sounds like you are out in the game world before the process has finished. Was this because of where your alternative start put you or because of impatience (which is completely understandable and fundamentally human)? :giver:

But being out in the game world for whatever reason before the prebuilt process has completed is at the very least ill-advised and at worst interrupts/breaks the prebuilt process.

Two hours? You´re joking, right? More like 4 hours... But it worked. I disabled literally everything, started Start Me Up without SS and Conqueror, started outside V111, went inside to see if the automatic door to the cryo bay opened without cheating (which is my way to check if SMU works correctly), then saved behind the door, started SS and Conqueror and then waited 6 hours in that empty corridor. The installation completed (hopefully, I had to go at about 80% in stage 4 and when I came back two hours later the Conqueror display in the was gone). Have to run down to a settlement tomorrow to see if it worked properly. Also I have to enable all the other mods again. Hopefully Conqueror was worth all that.

And yes, it took 4 hours standing in an empty corridor in V111 to get to 80% stage 4. I kinda pity my poor character...

Okay, test 1 was a failure. SMU bugged out, so the mainquest was noncompletable. Nate´s corpse never showed up, so no C9 audio and no Shaun equals no mainquest. Went a different way this time. Start near V111, go inside, complete the vault, exit, save, quit. No to install SimSet and Conqueror again.

I hope you are not upset? Your testing will be valuable to folks wondering if Start-me-up and similar mods will cause problems. As mod users by definition we are testers once we make the decision to download a mod and good community members provide positive feedback as you have done. In this way every user can contribute to the community and the future of free content.

If SME is more essential to a player then this information will help those players also.

I appreciate you coming back and letting us know.

In the end, sometimes mods won’t work well with each other. What is important, at least I think so is helping users in the community find that balance for a rewarding modded game experience no matter what combination of mods is the better fit. :bye

Thank you:pardon

Test 2: First SMU, Vault 111 finished with corpse audio log so mainquest works, exit Vault, quit game, install SimSet and Conq. Restart game, install+config popup, then nothing. No display in the top left corner after 15 minutes. Because I thought that was strange I checked my installed mods and HudFramework was disabled, probably the cause, not sure though. After enabling HudFramework and restarting the game still no display. Test 2 failed

Test 3: Start SMU and SimSet+Conq simultainously, with only two other mods active. You´re special (FO3 and NV option) and HudFramework. Again my go-to start via SMU (Ex-Gunner, near V111, level 1, essential gear). Enter V111, everything goes fine and everything works like it´s supposed to be. Exit Vault and stayed in the area, put my character in the vault lift controll booth and waited. Stage 1 complete after 1,5hrs. Stage 2 and 3 completed in maybe 20 minutes (didn´t really watch the clock here, went to the kitchen, took stuff for sandwich to my desk, made sandwich, ate it without a rush, took the stuff back to the kitchen, stage 3 done). Stage 4 again 1,5hrs. After completion I went to the first settlement that I knew was affected by Conqueror, the cinema thingy east of Drumlin Diner (always forget the name). Did not activate my other mods yet. On the way I passed by Abernathy Farm. And behold! Houses and ruins and fields and stuff. With people! Some woman talked about seeing a centaur and another ghoul dude said I´d be a synth cause I had not given him 50 caps.

I´d say Test 3 was a complete success. Have not tested it with my other mods yet, but since those are mostly weapons, armor and some settlement objects I don´t think it will break anything. My biggest concern was Start Me Up since that one is especially tricky. The scripts will break when there are too many scripts running along in the initial phase and when the scripts break that´s it. Main quest completely ruined, to the point that you can´t even fix it through console codes.

Seeing the mod work after hours upon hours of waiting and multiple tries to get everything right was surprisingly satisfying. I´m glad I didn´t ragequit after the first problems arose. I´ll do a quick test with all my other mods and then I can hopefully put the solved tag on this

Okay, so I tested it with my other mods. Everything works fine, nothing major out of the ordinary. Just one small hilarious bit. The root cellar in Sanctuary is a teleporter now :D Clean and walled Sanctuary moves the hatch to the cellar into the village center for reasons but this time the hatch didn´t move, the exit did however. So you enter the cellar at the original point but exit at the village center. No big problem however since I only go into that cellar once to loot it and then forget about it and since I have no idea what mod could conflict here and the problem isn´t that big and kinda funny I can live with it.

So I tried this today, and running both mods simultaneously caused both of their pop-ups to appear literally over top one another. I completed the Start Me Up ones and finished one of the Conqueror ones and the loading screen to take me to my SMU starting location started, and then froze.

Did you encounter this happening with SMU?

Edit: Think I found solution. SMU only fires wuwh you go through the bathroom door, Conqueror will fire if you stand still. Gonna let setup run.

Edit 2: Conqueror setup finished, did Start Me Up, loading screen froze still. Internet had said this happens when you have too many scripts. Should've saved after Conqueror setup finished. Oops.

Edit 3: Before I went to bed I got the game to finish Conqueror setup, do Start Me Up, and get through Start Me Up's opening quest. Hopefully should be good to go. The trick for me was disabling enough mods that the loading screen didn't freeze.

I added this to the Consolidated Conqueror Concerns thread as a Mod Conflict.
I really appreciate the time taken to help figure out how to work around such mod conflicts. It's very helpful to everyone that has / will encounter this issue.
Conqueror is heavy on the front end. Real heavy. Its scripts run literally for over an hour on good PC's. A mod that also treads heavily during that time can step on top of Conq.
