SS2 Crashing Questions

Hey guys, forums kinda weirdly laid out for me not sure if this is the place to post a crash related issue but its definitely SS2 that is causing my CTD since the crash log just lists a ton of SS2 missing items.

I've already checked my load order, I've cleaned the base game and DLC's files with FO4 like always and this is a fresh Fallout 4 install.

I'm not sure but I suspect its because the crash log keeps referring to folders and file structures that are not present (it looks for everything under C: but I have my Fallout and all my mods on different drives.

Any kind of suggestions on fixes would be greatly appreciated!

Nope, would you suggest I grab said mod? I've been awake from the FO4 scene and modding for about 2 years but I wanted to my 3070 up against some modded fun haha.

Yea. It can be useful in trying to track down problems. Just be aware that it does have a few requirements that need to be installed. And we wont be able to for sure read it, but it may give us an idea whats going on.

Yeah I'm experienced in mod load order and modding in general, have been doing so for about 10 years, but sometimes its faster to troubleshoot with folks who know the mod best.

Anyway I downloaded Buffout 4 (and the requisite mods).

I'm attaching the f4se.log

Check your xse pluginpreloader.log in the game directory and see if it tells you why Buffout isn't loading.

Your load order isn't too long, and I know most of those. I'm gonna mention a couple of things I see that you may have already accounted for, its mostly cause we havn't talked before.

The UltraHighReselution pack can be fairly taxing, but if your running a 3070 you should be OK.
I think there is a patch that you need for True Storms and Vivid Weathers. I think its on one of those two mod pages.
if your using the ini edits that disable the precombines for Scrap Everything, that can lead to crashes just by itself.

Stuff yo umay know already, but its worth mentioning.

its odd that Buffout wont load though. The answer may be in that log I mentioned above.

I'll check the log you mentioned.

As for the UHR pack, yeah all of it maxed out and that pack puts my 3070 at 65%ish percent usage haha and thats on a 1440p monitor.

I'll check for the patch between TS and VW.

I grabbed a mod that prevents scrapping of something via Scrap Everything but the crashes have been happening before I grabbed said mod. I also tried uninstalling SE and the mod and its still crashing. SS2 is the only possible thing I can draw a common conclusion to based on the papyrus log.

Ok so I checked for said pluginpreloader.log but I am not able to find it despite xSE being installed via Vortex. Am I missing something?

xSE should be installed in the game root. In vortex you need to set the Mod Type to dinput and then edit the xml file in your root folder. Please review the installation instruction for xSE and Buffout 4 again to make sure you have it right as both hook into the OS and is a not a standard mod which you just deploy. It has some dependencies at OS level as it hooks into the engine and OS.

Am I missing something?

There is an in depth conversation about that here:

And the Buffout 4 wiki here:

Thanks to these pages, I was able to setup Buffout 4 and it ran correctly the first time.

Edit- It should also be noted that there is an issue with Fallout 4.exe and nVidia drivers newer than v442.92. This is listed in the Buffout 4 wiki and in the Buffout 4 Nexus posts.
