So how are people handling children settlers since they can't be assigned to plots?

School with desks and video games the rest of the time. Child beds to sleep in. Kids dorm so I don't have to worry about slapping a child bed in a plot and having the darn thing upgrade and put something through the bed.

I have "orphans of the commonwealth" and "diverse children" - i think the name is fuller and has mod authors name on it, but i am currently running a kernel build in vbox so i can't boot my kvm windows to check.
I also installed the "working beds" mod - again full name of mod is longer, that mod comes with loads of stuff that I don't want, so I'm using the older non-updated beds only version found in the 'files' section on its nexus page.
Now I can assign a child to a bed to stop it from being homeless, I can also then set up a vanilla store and assign the child to that, that has always worked to give the child a job. Which is great now that SS can count vanilla work and beds towards its count.

I use Uneqe NPCS, my self. When I get a child settler I tend to send them to a farm settlement that mainly uses another food sorce (Abernathy, Finch's, Vault 88...The Glowing Crator) and dress them approperiatly. When I run out of room there I let 2-8(depending on population for that settlement) stay. Then I set up a small labor camp, or a school depending on the theam of that settlement. In some places I even use them to man artillery posts. The rest get turned away....I disable & mark them for delete.

You can disable and mark them? how? i think one of my "pretty people up mods" messes with the kids and gives them creepy semi adult faces that i find disturbing.

honestly i am not sure what mod gives me kids. it must be better settlers or unique settlers.
Unique NPCs does this. The first time I saw it I could have sworn that the child was growing up as the game progressed - looked like it was getting taller. That's what you get for an 8 hour session.

Open console, click on the kid and type 'disable; markfordelete'. in theroy disable is enuff, but markfordelete makes sure.
