[Spoilers] Problem with Sneake

Soooo

If Sneake invokes the ancient rite of fisty-punchy, and Dogmeat is your active companion, Doggo immediately runs up and chomps Sneake when combat starts. This seems to autofail the challenge, i've tested it a number of times to make sure i didn't accidentally activate a weapon or something... it seems that Sneake is checking for any damage that isn't the game's "nonlethal unarmed minigame" system, i guess? So Doggo's damage trips the anticheat just as much as stabbing or shooting him would.

i don't remember Dogmeat causing any fatalaties or quest breakage in Travis' quest, so maybe there's a way around this without people having to just know they need to dismiss all companions before talking to Sneake? Maybe talking to Sneake could temp dismiss the current companion, and bring it back afterwards...?

Also make sure you don't have any grenades or mines active or that will fail the quest.

Sneake is weird. I walk 2 steps away from him when we're just outside a settlement and he's like "you're pathetic, I won, go cry". Companions mess him up. Any aura effect or whatever. And I guess having grenades too?

The first time I met Sneake I had to chase him down once his health got low, he kept running away, now it seems like I always step to far away from him and he starts name calling and takes one of my settlements. I have gone to the settlement and reassigned my original Mayor and tried fighting him again, only to loose and then he just walks around acting like he's in charge.

I can see that as a result of his agressiveness being increased. He'd run away or not fight, I guess that's not a thing anymore. Now he's too dominant for his own good :)

That fight has never behaved correctly for me. The latest result was, like some of you, Sneake claiming victory after I stepped back a bit.

Goddamn I hate Sneake. How does anyone take him in when just immediately shooting him in the face and leaving him for vultures is a far better option.
Trouble is his quest is now stuck in my log despite me never actually engaging in conversation with him :p

Yes, beware of the Sneake. :grinIf you don't talk to him to start the quest, he will keep showing up randomly and suddenly just start speaking to you.
Then you can either fight, or if you kill him, as you said the quest will never end. Just beat the snot out of him without getting more than a couple of steps away.
Don't have a weapon of any kind (Grenade, mine, etc.) armed.
Don't hit him to many times in a row without letting him hit you and you will be victorious. :lol It can be done! :victory

Last I checked (I literally cross the street to avoid even getting into talk range of the guy myself), even having the "Punishing" (reflects 10% of melee damage back to attacker) 'enchant' on your armor broke his little duel too.

I don't want to beat him though. I don't want to recruit him. I want him dead so his idiocy never darkens my door again. :p

I have to admit his dialogue is so over-the-top if anyone started saying stuff like that to me irl I'd burst out laughing and couldn't take them seriously.

it's just that level of absolute cringe D&D weeb nonsense, it makes me irrationally angry that it even exists. lol
like if bloodninja were painfully unfunny

I ran into him in Sanctuary Hills most recently and I was with three companions. I had grenades readied and a weapon equipped. Before I could even open my inventory to unequip my weapons he was crowing about winning. I never liked him in pre-chapter 3 playthroughs, and I like him even less now. I'm going to start disabling him if I see him first.
