Question "Something went wrong while attempting to setup your assault"

I'm running the BOS faction pack and have set up an outpost at Boston Airport. I have 5 warriors ready to go but every time I try to launch an assault whether for a vassal or an outpost it just says "something went wrong while attempting to setup your assault". This is my first time using Conqueror so there might something obvious that I'm missing.

Update: i noticed Conqueror had an update available so downloaded the newest versions of that, Workshop Framework and Sim Settlements. I managed to assault Finch Farm but I can't free the settlers

The BOS faction pack is unfortunately slightley outdated at the moment.
But there's light at the end of the tunnel:
Quote Takarazuka: I am getting back in to Fallout 4 but this mod is going to take me awhile to rework... there was a lot I was trying to do with it and I lack the programming knowledge necessary to make it happen. I am going to basically rebuild it totally. I'll take a look at quest markers while I am at it. No ETA on anything... I am extremely busy IRL so this may take some time. The mod is woefully out of date right now and is going to be a pain to put back together.

Yeah I saw that. I started a new playthrough and now I can't change soldier roles. turned off auto-assign but still get nothing. thinking i'll just switch to Minutemen
