I had some ideas I had for defense plots, but didn't feel to be up to the challenge to actually implement them. Might or might not be inspired by games of a certain other company...
- Katyusha Rocket Launcher: An old truck, with a large missile launcher on the truckbed. I have no idea inhowfar it is possible to hack the turret meshes...
The NPC could seat in the driver's cabin.
- Tesla Tower: Could have a radio tower or one of these overhead wire towers as it's base. Lightning attacks are in the game already, so I guess this could work. The actual "turret" of the thing wouldn't even have to turn, so maybe this is easier to implement?
The NPC could just do random "repair" animations around it.
- Psionic Dominator: fires a custom magic effect at enemies which makes them temporarily allied. Or just makes them run amok. Could use various brain in the jar assets from Automatron, and/or that "theta wave emitter" from one of the workshop DLCs.
The NPC could lie in a memory lounger here.
Maybe something like: at lvl1, it makes enemies run amok. At later levels, it turns them into temporary allies.
The biggest problem here would IMO be not to make this too overpowered. It would need either a short range, or a looong cooldown, or a hard limit on how many NPCs it can influence at the same time.
- Martial Arts Dojo: The NPC suddenly becomes a kung fu master. Maybe he found an old rat-gnawed book about it in the sewers?
The dojo spawns fighters who fight with bare fists, but are incredibly effective in doing so. Also, bullet wounds don't seem to bother them very much.
At lvl3, the fighters might punch people so hard, their heads explode. (Can you even put magic effects onto unarmed attacks?)
