Fixed Slaver Troubles

Upon completing a slaver quest there is an explosion & most of the slaves die ( Most of the farmers die too after Farm completion) . Then after making the slave collars I get the 2 page instructions but am unable to enslave stunned npc's. I only get an option to execute.

Yeah, there seems to be some bug/glitch/mod conflict thing going on where enslaved settlers suddenly nuclear. Someone's collar blows up, and if they're close by, other slave collars blow up, resulting in mass death. Also, regular settlers sometimes get up and become hostile again right away.

I have the same issue. I’m wondering if the “better settlers” mod may be an issue. I use that mod for obvious reasons and the game would lack, imo, without it. Hope that’s not the problem. I’m hoping it’s just a simple bug and not a serious mod conflict.

I was thinking about making a file to remove explosive effects of the collars, presuming there are explosive effects on Conqueror's collars. Will find out. I appreciate the technical/immersion, but giving the enslaved people capacity to be suicide bombers is a bit too far. Ha!

SS base mod introduces the slave collars, and they do have the molerat bomb effect. Conqueror carries over the collar. I made a personal patch to remove the bomb effect, and then a suggestion that it be removed - I presume it will have a function, but if not, it isn't useful.

I have the same problem with exploding collars. Tried multiple times to establish a slave-outpost at Sunshine Tidings Coop, but as soon as the quest is successful, every civillian dies in an explosion.

Weird thing is, I first tested it at Tenpines Bluff --- which is not a pre-build settlement in my playthrough --- so there were only two settlers to enslave and that worked perfectly fine. They weren't hostile, nor did they explode. Then when I tried to take Sunshine Tidings --- which is a pre-build settlement level 2 (I think) --- everyone exploded no matter how often I reloaded the save before starting the quest.

I have a few mods installed that affect settlers and raiders, maybe one of these is causing the issue?:
- pra's "what's your name" (gives settlers names)
- Thom293's "Better Settlers"
- MadMAX713's "Raider Overhaul WIP"
- TinyManticore's "Start Me Up" (Alternate Start & Dialogue Overhaul)
- Elianora's "Eli's Armour Compendium"

I uninstalled Better settlers & still get the same issue.

Do settlers re-spawn as slaves in the "slaver camps" as the city grows? if so it wouldn't be such a big deal.

Like Dana, my two Tenpines settlers didn't pop their heads off. I had made a patch to remove the molerat bomb effect from the Conqueror collars, and it seems to work for me, but when I decided to turn Covenant into a slaver outpost, three or four of them lost their heads (and even then it was a minor effect and not the major bomb thing going off). The remainder didn't lose their heads and weren't hostile.

I attacked Tenpines too that was a developed settlement even if with half a dozen settlers and the two Tenpines.
At the end there was a minor explosion and i lost two settlers but 4 survived together with 4 of my 12 raiders attacking.
Strange thing both Tenpines died, i wasnt able to find the corpses anywhere; tenpines isnt a huge settlement and i well remember they were in the middle of the battle i subdued both personally.
Another strange thing is that two of the three farms produce 1 even if i put slaves working on them, the third one produces 2 as should be.

Generally the explosion should only be triggering if you order it to, or the settlers die (which can only happen by your hand, since they have protected status).

There is something interfering with the raid code atm and causing the settlers/civilians to mass suicide for some users at the end of a raid. This will be resolved in the 4.0.1 patch on Friday the 1st.

I want to focus this bug report on this section, since that seems to be a unique report.

Anyone else with this issue please discuss it here, we don't need anymore posts hijacked about the suiciding settlers, that issue is known and will be resolved.

Yes, that happens to me. What I can report is that during the raid, settlers will be "downed", and I can "execute" them, which seems to work fine. That is, when I turn on execute, they will sometimes rise up and require one more pop from my gun to kill, or sometimes die instantly. I don't know if that's normal or not, since this is the only time I used the execute function. Anyway, the execute option is available during the entire raid, and as the raid finishes (the secondary subdue finishes), I've seen a split second where a settler/civilian offers the "enslave" option instead of the "execute" option, and then an instant later they all die, with the exception of various essential npcs, it seems, like some of the NPCs at Warwick and Somerville, who then become slaves at that vassal. I never see an explosion, just a mass death.

I know we're trying to stay off the mass death part, just wanted to give the full picture of events.

(Edit: I also got the 2 pages of instructions, IIRC, when I made my first slave collar.)

The exact same thing happened to me yesterday. I thought the "enslave" was not functioning. Then found you only have a second or two to use it which in itself is not long enough.

Hey boss,
I noticed yesterday that the "enslave" is working when taking over a farm but when civilians are initially downed I only get the option to "execute" them. Then upon completing the takeover I get just a second or two to "enslave" . But by that time all but 2 or three civilians have exploded.
