SIM settlement team suggest to Bethesda to increase console modding size for Chapter 3 in next Gen update?

I was wondering if it was possible since I know that the SIM settlement team (and King Gath in particular) have contacts at Bethesda to increase console mod size with the next Gen update. Although I'm not a console user, a buddy of mine is and he really enjoys his SS2 as much as I do. As most Sim Settlement 2 console users probably already know SS2 and Chapter 2 take up a lot of space. I heard that chapter 3 is going to have to be watered down for Console users which sucks. Expanding the mod space just seems like something that could easily fix this problem on console by reaching out to Bethesda. Probably already tried this and isnt possible but if you all haven't you should reach out, from what I can tell they seem to like you guys. I don't know much about the technicalities but it seems like a quick and (very much needed) addon to the NextGen update.

Console users have been suggesting this for years, I believe there was even a petition for it at one point. For whatever reasons, Bethesda set their sights on 2gb. I think an increase in mod space is out of reach given how old the game is.

Would be nice but I just don't see it.

From everything I've heard there's been plenty of outreach to Bethesda about this from a lot of modders and console users, the SS2 team included, but there are various vague technical reasons that Bethesda has cited for why they can't do it - the most specific one I've heard being something about it breaking all existing Xbox FO4 saves and they don't want to do that.

I think the main issue is that if Bethesda changes the storage limit for mods, then any content that was installed by players would be erased as part of an update. It's safe to assume that most players would not expect that, and those who are ready would need to recreate their mod installation in order to keep using the same save file.

As a simple (for my lack of understanding) explanation. Each game on xBox creates its own partition. Those partition sizes cannot be changed. To up the size limit, they basically need to distribute FO4 as a new and separate game. This would kill any ongoing save games. The first game would no longer be accesible, and so you would need to redownload any and all mods, and you would need to redo you load order.
It may be something that could be done with the next gen update, if its a new game. But this would be a massive headache for the majority of players. Especially those that never mod their games, which is the vast majority of players. So while it would be awesome, its unfortunatly not easy to do.

Thanks, Chef - I never understood the particularities of it but if it would be a unique partition that would make sense.

Todd actually explained it in an interview at one point a number of years ago. I wish I could find it, because I would link it.

I wonder how they do the DLC then, can't they just patch the executable to seek a different partition instead for DLC?

I was thinking some kind of "community expansion pack" with SS2 complete, Bleachers/FSD and Fourville for console players as a "best of PC compilation" heh would be awesome for them

Apparently not. There are other games that have tried to expand the size allowed for mods on xBox and had the same issue. Farming Simulator 19 did that exact thing and killed the save games for everyone on xBox.
