100% true.
I had something similar - I had a 'gung ho' security boss who wanted to 'help' me deal with a transient problem. He would typically call the police on this so when he asked how long it would take I told him 5 to ten minutes. He got mad because were talking an hour or so with the cops and demanded to know how I could do it so fast. I told him I did it by being nice and he started yelling about how he was nice. I decided that was a good time to shut up. :)
