Question Settlers Permanently "Aggro", But Not Towards Player on Recent WSFW Updates

When using the latest version of WSFW, I have issues with settlers walking around with their guns drawn, as if looking for an attacker. This causes them to never be at their jobs. Instead, they keep teleporting to one spot, then dispersing looking for an imaginary enemy. This is only occurring at Sanctuary.

Yes, I have 100% confirmed that there is NOT any hidden hostile enemy. I have tried un-claiming and reclaiming the settlement. I have tried a multitude of fixes. I saw in a thread from about a year ago that their issue was fixed by rolling back to Version 2.2.4. Doing so DID in fact return my settlers to their normal behaviors, but also caused other glitches and issues that had been fixed since that version.

I am in a tough situation: either have my settlers not work at all, which ruins immersion, or I have to roll back, causing issues with my water and food values every now and then with occasional crashing.

I have been loving using SS2, it has changed my view of Fallout 4 and was the sole reason I just got the game on PC. If anyone can help me resolve my issue so I can keep playing this beautiful piece of art, I would appreciate it greatly.

You might try crafting a Town Meeting Gavel at the City Planner's Desk and using it to tell your Settlers "Back to Work" to break them out of the "defend animations".
The plots in your Settlement should continue to produce resources whether the settlers are at them working or not. I agree that it impacts immersion.

Did not think of that. Awesome idea! I'll try it out tonight. Thank you

That did not work, but, I did find a solution. Like you said, the behavior was part of each individual's animations. I noticed all new settlers were not running around with guns out. So, I sent all the glitched ones to a separate settlement. Because of the glitched behavior, they wouldn't appear at the settlement, they would instantly teleport back to Sanctuary. But, using the Town Meeting Gavel, I was able to gather them, and then quickly kill a few before they teleported back. Doing this, I was able to massacre the original population of Sanctuary (where I luckily had not sent Preston or the others yet, for roleplaying reasons) and now the issue is gone.

I could never kill off my settlers, and would never think of such a thing, but glad you found a sollution.
