Settlers assigning themselves to multiple plots

This is happening with both SS2 settlers and vanilla settlers. They initially assign themselves to one, but when I start adding plots for arriving newcomers, they assign themselves to those, too. Attempts to unassign them from one of the 2 plots hasn't worked, so any suggestions are appreciated. I admire their willingness to work hard, but really, leave something for the new folks to do. XD

You can not really do much against that i play with Auto assign off but the Settlers do what they want and take every Work i place or Bed.That what i dont understand is why not all Settlers make that.Build a new Settlement send after 12 Settlers there fast travel there and find 8 have a 1 Bed 2 have 2 Beds 6 have 1 Work 3 have 2 Works 1 have 3 Works(i hate such people he will get the same Food as all others) and 2 have nothing. Its all a little bit wired.Have even Visitors off but my Settlements are full of them i start to kill them as i begin to have problems with Building new stuff as they walk always exact where i want build something.

Have you upgraded to workshop framework 2.0.7 and SS2 1.3? There was a bug with multiple assignments fixed in there.

I installed SS2 1.3 and WS 2.0.7 early this morning. I was in game about an hour and went to check up on the settlement that Stodges and crew started. Added a few plots and an NPC called Lashes (who assigned herself to an industrial plot) grabbed a second one, so she was working both the industrial plot and a commercial plot.

However, a bit later, another newly arrived settler suddenly took over her industrial plot so now she's back down to one. So all's well that ends well. :D

I have found that if you send the settler to another settlement, wait for them to be unassigned and then bring them back works.
I do the same thing, but just assign them to a vanilla job (usually a scavenging station), wait for the change to take place, then put them where I want. The vanilla job seems to cancel out the sim settlements job(s).

There is a known issue with multi-person housing plots and that any new house or bed you build will want to be taken by someone who has a bed from one of these locations. I have noticed when you scan someone to see their stats it will flag if they have a home and extra people who have taken a bed in a multi-home plot do not get this flagged as having a home so they will seek a bed or new housing plot to get that flagged.

what the fix will be is outside of me I noticed it when building my 1st city plan and reported it.

IIRC, the issue with settlers assigning to multiple jobs was fixed in v1.0.3. I'm pretty sure I read that in my patch notes. The irony is that this is one problem I have not encountered.

I haven't tried in later SS2 versions, but in the earlier ones, assigning a settler that is already assigned to multiple multiResidential plots to a vanilla bed just added that bed to their resume... Moving to another settlement was the only way I found to unassign them.

This explains why when I turn off auto assignment, my problems disappeared!

While this bug is supposedly dead, I've seen it come back in recent patches with a vengeance. Setters assigning themselves to multiple jobs, multiple recreations, and multiple houses.

For the former, the fix is simple: build a vanilla scrapping workstation, and assign them to it. they should unassign themselves from all their work plots and assign to the vanilla scrapping workstation. then once they're assigned to that, delete it and assign them to one job.

Unfortunately, an easy workaround for the other two doesn't seem to exist. The only recourse is to send them off to another settlement, then quickly send them back and assign everything manually. And even THAT can get iffy.
