So, after I do Archon's quest, does something else have to be done to unlock the power plant he mentions? I don't see anything new as a Municipal plot option, nor under Electrical / Generators.

I don't think it is a specific plan, it should give you options for "advanced power plants.

It's a plan, not a plot. Build a municipal plot. Hover over the Asam sensor and activate it. Select "Choose building plan". A list should pop up of all the available plans for the plot. Choose a plan of the advanced power plant class. Accept trade. Enjoy having more power in the settlement.

Ah i may have only put a normal Power plot down and looked at available plans there. Advanced would certainly make sense, duh... thanks!

Go to your power plot and look at building options, you will not see a plan with Archon's name, what you will see is basic and advanced plans.
You can choose one that is advanced. Eventually you will also see Hi-Tech plans. Advanced and Hi-Tech have certain requirements for the settlers, be sure to read the descriptions.

OK, scratch that. The plan isn't showing up.

If i make a Muni plot 2x2, and choose Advanced Power as the class, the only option is Coal Plant. Which i don't think Archon's fancy reactor would be.

Is it 3x3 maybe? Or 1x1? I think it might be better if the quest specificially showed an unlock popup for the building like other quests or unlocks do.

Yes I know, Archon's int is 9 so he should be able to run his own power plant.

I see "Advanced," but not "high-tech," and only Coal appears as the Advanced option.
So is it possible to do Archon's quest but not unlock his power plant, because I still need to do something else to unlock Hi-Tech? If so, do you know what?

Remember, even tho Advanced and Basic are classes, all unlocked PLANS should still show up in the list, as they do for everything else. Since Archon's power plant is not showing up - and i never got any kind of unlock message about it - either something is wrong, or there's another pre-req that's not mentioned that i haven't gotten yet.

Advanced Power plots can be unlocked with 5 Level 3 Basic Power Plants, or by completing Archon’s quest, whichever comes first. It is a category of plots, not a new plan per say.

Archon does not have a plan:
If you are seeing "Advanced" plan choices then you have completed his quest.
Per the Wiki:

Walkthrough

  1. Some time after Archon has settled in at the settlement you assigned him to, your Pip-Boy will tell you to check in with Archon.
  2. Archon tells you about the project to create a hybrid generator that he was working on when the bombs fell.
  3. Find the generator plans.
  4. Return the plans to Archon.

Notes

If you are only seeing a choice for coal then that may be all the plans you have loaded

Aha thanks all. I was, of course, expecting an actual Hybrid Power Plant! That explains it. Also I didn't realize the Wiki had precise walkthroughs and results, good to know.

It would totally make sense to unlock the hybrid reactor. The quest really suggests that's the reward. Maybe a makeshift version of the hi-tech plant if the normal one breaks the progression too much?
