Sectional plots

The main issue is you can only have 1 settlers assigned to 1 object. So if your building is one giant plot then you can only assign one person to it.

If you are making 1 large plot with a bunch of interior plots inside to bypass that 1 settler assignment it just about becomes a plan.

I was thinking of setting the other beds to be assignable. I think that the ones we usually use have keywords that prevent assignment or else lack ones that make them assignable. Settler #1's bed will be a normal kgsim_bedroll while the other beds would be assignable. Main flaw is under most people's settings they'll get assigned away from the beds to any empty Residential plots but I think should probably be fine.

I also thought about this a while ago, but quickly rejected that idea.

Even if you come up with a good plan that does solve all the problems, then there is still the question who would really use those combined plots.

People who really like building settlements would rather place single plots themselves and build their own foundation/city around it and the majority will only use city plans anyway - especially now with them being featured in a monthly contest/updates.

So I dont really see the point besides maybe designing 2 plots that work well alongside eachother. but even then I'd try to design it in a way so that you can build them seperate too.

Like I keep saying it is one of those things you have to find that happy medium. Too big it becomes a plan.

For instance you could do a two story house with a one story garage. Which would be upper residential/lower recreational plot and a side commercial garage attached lot. Of course I would leave room in the upper residential to place 2 beds normally, since you cant assign 3 settlers to the same residential zone.
