Scrap Everything whoopsie

So, I'd like to try my hand at the City Plan contest and created a new Vortex profile with all of the workshop mods and settlement expansions disabled, but forgot to disable Scrap Everything. I didn't realize my mistake until I went into Zimonja and absent-mindedly scrapped Boomer and his buddies (but nothing else.) Once I realized this I bailed out, disabled it, and went back to an earlier save before I took the settlement. Are those remedial steps sufficient to use the settlement, or should I start with a fresh game? I can do so easily enough but I would prefer not to lose the hour getting out of the Vault, leveling the character, and getting Preston and crew to Sanctuary if it can be avoided.

Also, what about mods that change sandboxing behavior? Should I disable them, too?

Unless you are 100% certain you haven't scrapped anything else then it will be fine. If not start over.
Sandboxing behaviour will have no effect on your final plan, but if you have a profile for city building why even have a mod like that installed?
The best way to build is with the bare essentials.

I have heard that even having Scrap Everything installed and disabled can cause issues, though I couldn't point you to exactly where I read that. I will advise you to double check in your Fallout4.ini that the line bUseCombinedObjects=0 is not there. Delete the line (or change it to =1) if it is present, just to make sure you don't wind up scrapping or moving objects that are normally part of precombines.

As for saves, if you're using Vortex, the profile manager has the option of enabling profile-specific saves, and the City Builder's Toolkit actually includes a save with all the settlements already unlocked. By all means, approach this however makes you happy, and in my personal opinion, starting from that save for each new contest (and using it only on the City Builder profile) saves a ton of time and headaches. You can use the console command showspecialmenu to rename the character and adjust your attributes, but if I recall correctly that character already has max Charisma and several perk points available. That said, I build in god mode (command: tgm) out of convenience - it allows me to build (most) things regardless of whether or not I have the appropriate perks or the appropriate resources. It only runs into an issue with some of the shops, because god mode sets your available resources to 999 and some of those shops require 1000 or more caps to build.

Of course, building in god mode has its drawbacks. A couple days ago I was in Starlight on my "play the game" save, assumed I was in god mode because I was in a settlement, and leapt off the top of the screen with the intent of going to unlock the shed and activate the workbench. Super glad I'd saved only a couple minutes earlier.

Mainly I am asking because I sometimes miss mods when I am enabling or disabling things in profiles (like Scrap Everything, hence this thread). I didn't think they would, but I'd rather ask even if I appear to be asking a dumb question at the start than lose a month's worth of work later. One of them purports to increase the upper dimension of the Sandboxing ... sandbox, so to speak, so would probably be useful in a settlement like Zimonja with a smallish X, Y footprint and where building high would be desirous. I recall that Kinggath mentioned this was an issue in one of his earlier BMS videos, so I'd like to leave at least that one in place if I can. (I'd name it and credit it, but I'm typing this on a tablet away from my gaming rig atm.)

I'd seen that mentioned in these forums, too, but was wondering if scrapping the raider corpses would break the precombines for the settlement. My rig is pretty hefty and I've learned the hard way over time what not to scrap (looking at you, Jamaica Plains!), so using SE doesn't really bother me. Also, I was thinking about the Scrap Baseline.

I have seen a YouTuber do a video about rebuilding precombines in the CK; I wonder if something like that could be adapted for the SS clean saves?

I have Workshop Plus installed for basically the same purpose, but have some old BAT files from way back when to level up builders to 325, give them all the perk points, and hand over 10,000 units of components which I dump into Sanctuary's workshop. I've never tried to use a foreign save before, tbh. Maybe it's time to try whilst I have the time to get it right.
